If you're asking that question you shouldn't drive a manual. ?????Searched and couldn't find the answer, but if you down shift and it will over rev/money shift, will the car give a warning light and sound so you know not to let off the clutch?
This feature is in my VN, was wondering if iMT for the Supra has it. Thanks!
Careful. you might get banned. ?If you're asking that question you shouldn't drive a manual. ?????
For what? Speaking the truth? Did I trigger a little snowflake?????Careful. you might get banned. ?
I almost money shifted on the way home from the dealer. Was in 6 and wanted 4. Slotted in front of 2 and as I pulled it through the gate the iMT rev matched and scared the shit out of me. (I had never test drove, and since the dealer was right at the freeway exit, this was the first time I downshifted).
So there ya go OP. Leave iMT on and when it revs like a motherfucker, there’s your sign.
I turned off iMT as soon as I got in the driveway at home. The rev matching was ok, if sort of irritating, but I could not get a smooth 1-2 shift to save my life.
Yeah, about that.. I've had the CDV out and while it improves things somewhat.. after driving it a bit, I just don't know. It's better but it's still a very very ordinary transmission to be honest. I might try turning off rev matching to see if it somehow improves the 1-2 shift but I doubt it will do anything. I guess it depends on what you are used to, but for my money, the gearbox in the Supra is just dogshit. The not smooth shifting 1-2 is not iMT, it's the CDV and everyone says deleting gets rid of that. I plan to do mine this weekend and can't wait to get rid of it.
Suggestion, based on my experience with my previous car which was a 2014 Toyota 86 GTS, replace shift knob with heavier one (Raceseng Slammer, 1.4lbs), it fixed all issues I had with the feel of that gearbox.Yeah, about that.. the gearbox in the Supra is just dogshit.
Did it just redline/cut fuel and bounce off redline?I almost money shifted on the way home from the dealer. Was in 6 and wanted 4. And as for "money shifting," give me a break. Instead of asking for more nannies, take responsibility for your fuck-ups. If that's not your scene, an automatic should be your transmission of choice as that has all the built in nannies you are requesting.
I honestly don't see how such a change will fix it. As they say in the classics, you can't polish a turd.Suggestion, based on my experience with my previous car which was a 2014 Toyota 86 GTS, replace shift knob with heavier one (Raceseng Slammer, 1.4lbs), it fixed all issues I had with the feel of that gearbox.

My Type R revs out to near 9000rpm so I have always had the luxury of a fair bit of headroom. Having said this, the whole money shift phenomenon smacks of a complete lack of responsibility for one's actions: I shifted into the wrong gate, therefore the car is at fault for not protecting me from myself. What a time to be alive.I’ve never money shifted in my 25 yrs of driving a manual (knock on wood), but this shifter is one of the worst and most vague that it makes me think I might. Also, I’ve never owned a BMW before either so may be it takes time for me to get used to it.
I money shifted once the first few months I had the car. The B58 and the low end wide open throttle in 2nd gear…so much torque, the chassis twisted coming off the line. Seriously though, mine was from 2nd to 3rd and I accidentally went into 1st and quickly took it back out to neutral. The B58s powerband all comes on the low end which is also why the MKV can be tail happy at times. All that with having to shift properly took some practice. I ruined my wife’s clutch 11 years ago on her 2002 Accord she sold a long time ago and she never let me live it down. I was being an idiot beating on it when it wasn’t a sport or performance car. She got in the MKV with me the other day going out to dinner and I decided to get a little rowdy driving. No greater compliment than her complimenting my shifts. “If you don’t practice, you don’t deserve to win”.I’ve never money shifted in my 25 yrs of driving a manual (knock on wood), but this shifter is one of the worst and most vague that it makes me think I might.
