The issue that I have always had with Max is how he treats his team. He’s all stick and no carrot. When things are going well the praise is limited but when there is just some rather minor things that happens that impacts his race negatively (say a 4 second pit stop instead of a 2.5) he is extremely vocal.Appreciate the explanation. I didn’t realize the undercut would make that much of a difference for 2nd place.
As far as the wife, it had been building up. Loves everything RB. She was frustrated with Perez the day before. But in general, she a better team sport person than I am.
We have no problem for Max expressing how he feels and being honest about it. Guess we look at people differently. Some are more outgoing like Lewis. Some are quiet like Oscar. And some are not as socially friendly (so to speak), like Max. Guess you learn to understand their position better. At least that’s how we look at others. No judgement if not in their shoes. Hard to explain.
Back to Max. I think his answers are usually to the point and not a lot of fluff. I kinda prefer that over feeling like I’m being sold something, like Lewis. But now that I’ve watched Lewis more, I’ve seen him break through that exterior as well. More so when he’s down. Or in the ready room after a race.
Great respect for both of those guys.
Some of his fans state it’s because he is Dutch but I refuse to believe a population of people can all be assholes.
But that’s one thing, if you are okay putting up with such a person that’s fine, my main issue is how it impacts his driving. You can’t see how he does risky and stupid things when he is not dominating?
Him taking a 10 place grid penalty at this track makes sense as he can make up those places with straight line speed and passing. So even if he starts 11th I’d still consider him a very strong possible winner.
