Appreciate the explanation. I didn’t realize the undercut would make that much of a difference for 2nd place.

As far as the wife, it had been building up. Loves everything RB. She was frustrated with Perez the day before. But in general, she a better team sport person than I am.

We have no problem for Max expressing how he feels and being honest about it. Guess we look at people differently. Some are more outgoing like Lewis. Some are quiet like Oscar. And some are not as socially friendly (so to speak), like Max. Guess you learn to understand their position better. At least that’s how we look at others. No judgement if not in their shoes. Hard to explain.

Back to Max. I think his answers are usually to the point and not a lot of fluff. I kinda prefer that over feeling like I’m being sold something, like Lewis. But now that I’ve watched Lewis more, I’ve seen him break through that exterior as well. More so when he’s down. Or in the ready room after a race.

Great respect for both of those guys.
The issue that I have always had with Max is how he treats his team. He’s all stick and no carrot. When things are going well the praise is limited but when there is just some rather minor things that happens that impacts his race negatively (say a 4 second pit stop instead of a 2.5) he is extremely vocal.

Some of his fans state it’s because he is Dutch but I refuse to believe a population of people can all be assholes.

But that’s one thing, if you are okay putting up with such a person that’s fine, my main issue is how it impacts his driving. You can’t see how he does risky and stupid things when he is not dominating?

Him taking a 10 place grid penalty at this track makes sense as he can make up those places with straight line speed and passing. So even if he starts 11th I’d still consider him a very strong possible winner.

I bet off camera and not in the heat of them moment he’s quite different. And I still love this video ?

Don't mind skidmark. He makes little sense. Max is not a media robot, and never will be. The ignorant among us talk about how great it was when drivers used to speak their minds, and then when Max does it, they criticize him for it. He did go too far last race with some comments, but to say he's always like that is ridiculous. Everyone is allowed to have a bad day once in a while, and that's all it was. But plebs like Skidmark have to pile on the nonsense.

How many people do you know who are different at home than at work? I know loads of these people. I think he is probably a decent bloke to be around outside the sport, but as a coworker, nah I don’t care how talented he is, it’s a team sport and if you treat your team like poop, you likely aren’t someone I would put up with.

Feel bad for Bearman. Gotta suck having to start your F1 career dealing with a petulant child for a teammate.
Poor Ollie!!!! Ocon has got to be the worst guy to work with on track or as a teammate.

Everyone is allowed to have a bad day once in a while, and that's all it was.
At least Checo didn’t chuck it into a wall so far. RB might get some additional constructor points this weekend after all ?

I think Max will cut through the field like a hot knife through butter. He’s my favourite to win. I think Checo has a good race but I think he finishes just off the podium in 4th. Both RB and Max will widen their lead. Those are my predictions before this race.

damn George with the 1 stop
Tire whisperer indeed. It did bring Oscar back at the end, which wasn’t ideal for them but did a good job holding off Lewis. Speaking of holding off people, Charles did a masterful job keeping both Max and Lando at bay for most of that final stint.

So, with Russell, are the cars weighed with or without tires? Interestingly, they turned back up the pit lane instead of a parade lap. So no one had the opportunity to collect any marbles on their tires.

Gutted for GR, his one stop call was a great call to make mid race to loose it to not being able to drive through the marbles

If the other top drivers did the same wrong turn into the pits, then I don’t think the lack of parade lap and marbles would have caused only George to be DQ’d. I think there must have been some miscalculation from the team that caused this issue. Which sucks for GR but not his fault.

They claim it was a fuel miscalculation. Had another team representative present to verify it. Sad indeed, because it was such a great race!!

Credit to Toto for not fighting it. He said he was bothered for George more than anything else. I kinda believe him. I’ve never seen a driver so happy to win. Gutted for him is such a great choice of words ?

Did y’all notice Lewis in the ready room? He was pissed! Smart enough not to talk to Oscar or say much in general.

This was something that Mercedes trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin said had emerged as an early theory as to what went wrong.

“We don't yet understand why the car was underweight following the race but will investigate thoroughly to find the explanation,” he said.

“We expect that the loss of rubber from the one-stop was a contributing factor, and we'll work to understand how it happened.

“We won't be making any excuses though. It is clearly not good enough and we need to make sure it doesn't happen again.”

The missing weight of 1.5kg may sound like a lot, but we are only talking about 375 grammes from each corner.

And as Pirelli head of F1 Mario Isola has explained, that is well within the boundaries of how much a worn tyre loses.

Asked about how much weight a tyre sheds over the course of a stint, Isola said: “Usually, and we were talking about this a couple of days ago, it should be around one kilogramme.”

Interestingly my first thought was changing to a 1 stop caused there to be less rubber left on the tires compared to a 2 stop strategy but dismissed it thinking it couldn't have made that much of a difference.
