I believe @Sharocks is running one currently but maybe if we can garner enough interest/confirmed orders we can set up a group buy for the Auto Solutions short shifter?

It replaces the entire shifting mechanism along with the bushings though, it doesn't shorten the throws a super long amount but looks like it really tightens up the shifter throws and adds a nice amount of feedback to it.

and here: https://www.supramkv.com/threads/autosolutions-short-shifter.20023/

And YT Video of the install/testing:

For ~$600 that's a pretty decent price to get an all new mechanism/bushings to tighten it right up. If there's enough interest we could maybe get them to lower the price a bit for a group buy as well.
I guess that really does depend on how it good it truly is.. also fellow Ontarioian! you in the GTA as well?

Indeed! Although I'd probably consider Hamilton the outskirts of the GTA, if that.

shit balls that shifter looks like it feels fantastic! That would be what I’m looking for. Looks like the same job as my previous bmws, sucks to do but not the end of the world

Yes. Really.
I would have to disagree. In the video at 7 min, the GR Supra MKV has oval bushings, while the V160 MKIV is round (and Ive installed those myself). I just dont see how they work.

The oval ones go at the front of the carrier. These go at the back where it ends like a fork.

In the video the poly bushings get installed at the back on the forked part though, seen here:

The front where the shift lever is doesn't look like it has any:

I reached out to AutoSolutions just for some more info/pricing, how to order etc.

It sounds like he builds everything in Batches, so it could be up to a few months from ordering to receiving your order depending on what batch he's working on.

That being said, in the email he did say he's currently working on a batch of G80X/Supra shifters and there were still some available for ordering, with a tentative shipping date of Mid-September

Prices are $613 USD for the kit with the poly bushings and $583 for the kit without bushings. It also sounds like payment is processed at the point of shipping, as opposed to the point of ordering based on what he said.

To put in an order for one, a form can be filled out here: https://www.autosolutions.net/blank-1/#s-9ed3b5a8-80f4-474e-b5b5-a6abd21faec9/

Below is everything that would be in the kit:

Sounds like it's just one person running the show/making everything, genuinely seems like a nice dude and has a vast wealth of knowledge on BMW shifters just based on reading his site.

Did a general search in the BMW community for reviews of them and based on what I saw there, his short shifters are an absolute quality item.

Folks, I made a breakthrough on this. The only thing that is soft in the entire assembly, was the front bushings and the rear bushing. I have swapped them using Delrin front bushings and rear upgraded PU bushing with aluminum brace:
Rogue Engineering G8X / G29 / A90 Shifter Carrier Bushing Kit | Performance | iND Distribution
The result: noticed significant improvement in crispiness and the feel of mechanical connection to the shifter rod. You will get much more feedback from the gearbox, together with some vibration when you touch the shift knob, which is not a problem, but I would consider it an upgrade. No noise or harshness, only some minor vibration on the shift knob. You can even hear the difference from the cabin on how crisp it is when shifting. (check out the video from below)
Also from the installation video posted above, it says you need to unbolt the driveshaft. It turned out you don't need to (saving some one time use torque-to-yield bolts yay!).
Regarding to the short-shifter, if you don't need shorter shift (heavier at the same time), then swapping out the bushing will give you all the benefit of improved shifting feel, and cheaper. If you need shorter shift, short-shifter is a no brainer.

Steps:
1. Pull out the shift knob from cabin, using your forearm as leverage, grip and pry upwards. Don't pull it toward your face!
2. Uninstall the transmission support bracket(perfect time to upgrade to Powerflex transmission mount bushing), then the transmission will be lowered.
3. Uninstall the rear shifter bracket using ETorx socket (apoligies I forgot which size, probably E25 or E27, it's good to have a set sitting around). Uninstall the metal clips at the front of the transmission, pull out the pins on the left and right. Undo the clip that's securing the shifter rod to the shifter and slide the shifter rod out.
4. Pull down the rubber boot seal from the chassis. At this point the shifter together with shifter assembly frame will be free to move around.
5. Now the tricky part is how to slide the entire assembly out without unbolting the driveshaft. The trick is that you need to pull the assembly to the passenger side then downwards. You will see a lot of friction when you try to pull down the assembly. Now, rotate the driveshaft clockwise at the same time pull down the assembly, the assembly will move together with the rotation of the driveshaft. It will come down easily!! So exciting!
6. Use pointed nose pliers poke out the OEM rubber front shifter bushing. Install the new Delrin bushing. The OEM shifter bracket is somewhat inconsistent, you may need to use a vise to squeeze the hole a little bit in order to secure the delrin bushing. Or you may see the delrin bushing is very slightly bigger to fit into the hole. Use vise to press it in will do it.
7. Install back the shifter with the assembly, rotate driveshaft again counterclockwise when having friction. Install the new PU rear shifter bracket, bolt it on. Reinstall all the pins from the shifter rods and reinstall the clips. Reinstall the rubber boots. If it's hard to do it, use a 90 degree hook tool and go around the rubber seal.

8. Enjoy the greatest feel ever you can get from BMW shifter! So far I have impressed S2000, Miata, Porsche GT4 owners on the improved Supra shifter feel. Love the MT Supra even more now. Don't forget the CDV delete as well. That's a big difference too!

Your offically my hero for this one, I did notice the link specifically says for A90 Supra and you clearly installed it with no issues, but when I follow the link the website doesn’t specify it fitting on an A90 Supra, I reached out to the company to see if anything could’ve changed on their end or on BMW’s end but idk guys am I just over analyzing? I’m hoping I am because I wanna hit that order button tonight!

I can verify that the above kit from ind-distribution.com fits well and that the front bushings are indeed oval. Used the YT videos below and instructions from nameless (thanks!) to install the front/rear bushing kit and Rogue Engineering short shifter which wasn't all that bad.

Pulled the under body panel, exhaust, and heat shield above the driveshaft. I was able to pull the entire shifter assembly out without removing or even rotating the driveshaft by sliding off the rear bushing mount first. You have to squish/squeeze the rubber boot seal with the shifter assembly around the driveshaft but wasn't too hard.

New bushings and Rogue short shifter feel amazing. The throw is shortened a full 1/2 inch and shifts are much more crisp with a slight "schnick" when sliding into gears. No increased vibration/noise and shifts are just as smooth but firmer and more mechanical.

awesome! Thanks for your added guidance! I ordered mine the day after my initial reply to nameless after hearing back from customer support that these bushings do in fact fit our cars, and am in my garage now finally just starting my install since Ive been moving, and came back here for more guidance so your reply works out perfectly for me! I’ll post any updates and reviews here in a few days once I’m finished up!
