So I have pretty oily hands, so I've always had to clean my steering wheels consistently. But I straight up can't with this car. Over time the right side of my wheel has worn down significantly. I've tried several different cleaners, diluting them and even using straight up water, it bleeds regardless. This is my first car with red interior, any tips?

Yeah sadly thats ruined leather. Whatever you are cleaning it with pulled the dye right out. Id suggest a replacement, might be time to upgrade. Then use some heavy protection to prevent it from happening again.

Im typically against leather "coatings" but for those of you with these oily ass hands, maybe thats the way to go. Carpro cquartz leather 2.0 or similar.

Make sure you are using a proper leather cleaner from a good company (NOT chemical guys) to clean leather surfaces. I like swissvax products.

Thanks for the tips! I'll look into some products, I'm willing to pay the premium to protect my next wheel.

Seems like a defect, but I guess your warranty's gone as you mentioned. Even so, Toyota would've probably said no because they would classify it as "regular wear and tear", when it definitely shouldn't bleed like that in such a short time. I would either get a new one from Phillip, they're a big upgrade IMO, or buy another OEM one from another forum member. For future cases, you could use Chemical Guys odorless APC and dilute it 1:3 (you could do 1:10 even).

If I remember when I leave work I'll snap a picture of my wheel and post it. Mine looks almost new still and I've only wiped it down once or twice. Originally when I picked the car up the wheel was dirty on both sides and I wasn't sure what it was at first. No issues so far though

I would have a leather specialist re-dye (repaint it). It will be like new again... I've done this with my daily (GTI). Looks new again and lasts. They also can stay away from the grey stitching. Costs about $150.

More seriously do you have any ring on that hand?
no, it looks rough because the first time i tried to clean the wheel i used some elbow grease not anticipating the damage it'd do.
