I just got this 22 nocturnal black and this is what my hood and bumper look like. Not sure if this can be fixed with paint correction. Does anyone know what these small marks are.

After months of debating myself, earlier today I finally “decided” to say F getting PPF, that I’d rather throw that money into performance later on. I had come to terms with maybe doing good and front bumper myself some day down the line. I was all but content knowing I may get a chip here and there even though this would be my forever car and sit in the garage mostly.
Now you show me your hood and I’m back to square one and think I need PPF again lol

edit; anyway, OP, you should do a proper wash and detail, see if clay bar will remove whatever it is, but yeah that looks like the previous owner tailgated a dump truck full of stones.

Yeah thats what I was thinking maybe they tailgated people on their way to work everyday for 20k miles... idk. Get the PPF while you can no doubt, if you don't you will have this to deal with. Im taking it to a local detailer this week to see what can be done. Im hoping someone with some paint expertise will see this thread and chip in.

PPF really does make a difference - My 15 year old daily has PPF on it and it has near zero paint chips. For context, I've seen a number of cars of the same make and vintage as mine without PPF and their front end is absolutely littered with pockmarks. I see it as a non-negotiable cost like insurance and registration. It sucks to find the money, but it's just part of the having nice things experience.

I see what you did there. ?

OP - Ouch.. if you do decide to get the car repainted, I recommend you check your rockers too.

I don't run clearbra on my Supra's facia nor hood/side mirrors (I only drive on weekend mornings in light traffic, 5 sec behind cars in front of me), but I do run custom cut ones on my rockers. I just got a roll from Amazon and made my own template. Cannot see the seam from even a foot away unless I'm squatting down staring at the thing.. which no one does

Try clay and polish. If those are actually chips, I hope you got a decent price on the car. Looks like someone dropped all of the gravel from an aquarium on there. You could get a carbon hood!

So the detailer said it’s most likely bug etching and should come off. Going next week will update the thread then.
