Check engine light from the 02 sensor? I want a larger dump pipe with cat that will not Hinder performance but improve the sound.

Ok. So, can someone explain this?

I have had the AWE on my car now for about 9 months and it sounded great from the first drive. But today.. well, it sounded.. even better!

I kept the car in storage for the past month and taking her out today, she was banging and popping and burbling far more than she ever has done in the past. At the lights, I was giving it some revs and it sounded mental. Before this, it had burbled a whole lot and sounded great, but pops and bangs were very rare. I recall hearing literally two pops in 9 months - Today I heard more than five or six at one stop light!

I certainly don't want to knock a gift horse in the mouth but can someone rationalize how tf the car's exhaust can magically get even better without any physical changes?

And no, this isn't placebo - I always drive in Sport and ASD has been turned off since before the exhaust was installed. It's possible that with time I've just started to rev it harder I guess.. but I don't think that's it. ?‍♂

???

The exhaust has rusted out sitting around for a month ;)

im thinking that the packing material in the mufflers settled and is broken in somehow after sitting for so long? ?‍♂

Bet you mean downpipe. Search downpipe on here. There are some options
Sorry if I was vague, there are conflicting reports about catted dump pipes and cel’s. What I want to know is, which has the best performance gain for a stock car without throwing up a check engine light?

Downpipes and dump pipes are two different things.

I'd be disappointed if the mufflers were absorbent types with packing material. Not likely I would have thought unless they have the facility to be repacked.

Look up downpipe on the forum. Catless will throw a CEL (I don’t mind) and have the best flow. There are some on the market that won’t cause the CEL (check engine light) and sound pretty good. With an aftermarket exhaust. That combo would fit your wants/needs best :)

No packing material in the AWE. Seems like the most likely answer is I'm hitting the skinny pedal on the right a bit more. ?
