I get your point, however i only made the post just to see opinions on the 2 transmissions itself.
I test drove the ZF8 and like all other non-manual cars I have driven, found it rather boring. I mean you can literally strap a monkey in an automatic and get them to mash that little right pedal and you would get the same straight line results. And as for "manual shifting" an automatic.. don't get me started. ?

So, is the manual transmission in the Supra great? No. Is it good? Also no. Is it OK: Kinda.

Of course, as much as I think the transmission in the Supra is a little bit shit, I'd still take it over the automatic variant.. Every. Day. Of. The. Week.

“its not a real car unless its a manual”
Sorry to burst your bubble, but he has a point: If you buy an automatic sports car in 2024 that is available in a manual transmission, then I generally think you need your head examined, lol.

i wish i had the patience for would have been the stratosphere blue but i didnt want to wait 8 months for the car haha.
I waited 12 months for my spec. No regrets. ?‍♂

He's in agreement with driftguy. He's saying world is now full of snowflakes constantly seeking approval from everyone to the point of "who cares, do whatever makes you happy, no need for anyone's validation". *Paraphrased ?
Well put. I can’t stand snowflakes just as much as the next guy. But that’s not how I took this thread/post. Well said on OP’s part. I love cars and hearing other opinions on cars. It’s a problem, I know ?

OP and Christian (BA9092) nailed my thoughts exactly. Nice to hear. Nothing more, nothing less. Bring on different opinions!

I’ve had a slew of manual cars. I still drive one daily. But when this mofo came out and when I was in the market, the manual wasn’t available. Word on the street was she was different. Hot damnnnnnn…. :flame:they were right! If I didn’t drive her on a track, who knows if I’d have the same opinion. But for the money and on track, gimme a Supra mated to a ZF trans any day of the week. I can’t help but to feel like I’m driving the GT4 around town. Stupid kid in me still.

Well put article below on both versions. What’s not to love with either? ? But if you go with the GT4, only the ZF is available.

I wanted the manual but would have had to wait who knows how long to get it in Stratosphere , if ever, so I happily got the auto after reading many reviews on it. Do I regret it now , NO. I already had 3 manual cars to drive and still have 2 of them. Besides the wife wanted the auto also and I didn`t want to argue since I had the green light.:)

Manual - Engaging but you’re forced to shift all day every day in and out of traffic, rain or shine. If it’s a weekend car, no problem.

ZF8 - Shifts fast and magnetic paddles make them even better. Click click click. Very satisfying. Con is your left foot will rot away from disuse according to internet experts.

I found that a bunch of these magazine racer 'manual' guys don't even know how to drive manual properly, and ask the dummest newb questions

Just get the AT for the Supra and if you still want a MT, get something without auto rev match and learn. MT on a Surpa just makes the car slower.

I'm playing all sides since I own them all, I don't understand why people keep saying get an AT if you drive in traffic. I drove in traffic every day in my MT. Trust me, you'll get used to it.

Another thing I don't understand is when people say, "Drive a MT for fun or drive an AT to go fast." Like going fast is not fun. Let me tell you the news, going fast on the "track" with the ZF8(AT) is fun!

Man the manual hate is crazy ? Get whatever you prefer, but I'll check back in 10 years when they are worth 50% over an AT

Because ultimately, if only straight line speed matters to you, get ready to be clapped by the EV generation

People will be looking for driver involvement in future generations when every EV self-drives and does 2 second 0-60s. lol

Eh.

Mods off-set the clappness. Evs are buy what you get and that's it.

Safe to say eventually/most Supras are somewhat tuned or will be for AT users. I mean it's called a tuner car for a reason. And 95% of all evs you see are still slow. Only a handful of actual "performance varients"

LOL. It's not a tuner car. It just so happens to be a car that people tune.. at great expense. I mean what kind of a brain dead "tuner car" comes with a locked ECU? #Delusional.

My point still stands.

If the Supra wasn't a "tuner" car, the straight line speed wouldn't even be a big appeal of the car, and people would go the Porsche route:

AT for track
MT for street

No it doesn't The fact that the ECU is locked literally makes your argument bunk, lol. Toyota chose to include a locked Bosch ECU. End of story. #Dontbelievethehype.

And there is no such thing as a "tuner car" anyway. There is just cars people tune.
