Yeah, you weren't kidding about "deleting the slots." That's getting your money's worth out of the rotor rings. At least the hats are re-usable. Are you running some kind of ducting to the caliper/rotor on the C7Z?

All the front rotors on my LeMons Mustang end up cracking in a similar manner...and we have a homemade ducting solution still sitting in a box, planning to do that in the offseason.

I have all of the factory ducting which works really well at high speed/high airflow tracks like VIR. At CMP in the summer there's just not enough. I purposely ran those rotors 2 - 3 sessions more than I should have -- for science ? -- to learn the practical limit. Ended up slightly beyond so I know where to stop. They're actually worse than they look since most of the mounting lugs were cracked through as well. It still stopped just fine but I was close to disaster! Also mitigated by switching from Ferodo DS3.12 to Cobalt XR1. I LOVE the Cobalts in every way except that they wear quickly.

Still just upgraded pads and tires? Had an optimal of 2:14 month ago at VIR but traffic was pretty rough in hdpe1, stock pads and tires though still.

2:14 all stock is good!

Yep, only change since CMP is the PMU front pads. The SC3s have like 6 days on them at this point but seem to be hanging in ok. There's a lot of time left on the table, especially in the esses through oak tree, but I need some more seat time to push. It took a lot of mental readjustment after driving my C7Z all weekend and hopping into this car; mostly due to the comparatively soft suspension and body roll.

I've got PMU Club racers for next year and hoping to get v730 as well. When I finally got more comfortable with the uphill esses didnt compensate for the increase speed i carried into 10 and had a little off. Thankfully all good and was good learning experience.
was at VIR w Trackdaze couple weeks ago and there were 230 cars at event... so zero clean laps. Although I could have come in after first lap and gotten a good gap.
Dam thats alot. I was in the run group with the infamous Dodge Grand Caravan a month ago. So many trains created. Would lap him 3 times in a 20 min session.

The PMU work well at VIR, as long as you can get them bedded. ?

It happens! The esses to T10 are high risk/high reward and sketchy AF without real aero. I've gone off after a bad entry -- T8a sent me airborne and kicked me to the right straight into the grass. And I've about gone off at 10 more than a few times so I have a bad habit of over-slowing there.

Lol plan on new rotors with them since they're relatively cheap and all the stories of PMU on here.

So I learned. Probably carried around 5-7mph more than usual to that point into 10 and the rear wasn't havent it at the apex, started coming around. Managed to save it enough to go off on the left before the boards into oak tree and rejoined after the 2 marker. First 4 wheel off experience.

I empathize...I have quite a few laps at VIR and a couple of offs as well. My very first event, I went off in South Bend to the RIGHT. Down the hill and what felt like half way across that field between the two track sections. Car was fine, but once we got into the pits after that agricultural excursion, the rear tires were STILL 52psi. Yeah, that was a lesson learned.

I've been off on the left side as well in my old 944. I slowly backed into the tire wall and managed to do no damage to the car...just tire marks on the bumper cover. Very lucky.

The only car I've driven at VIR with aero was a BMWCCA I-Prepared E36. It was my boss's car that he kindly let me flog for the weekend. The different a real splitter makes on the uphill esses is night and day. It's very confidence inspiring.

Overslowing for South Bend is extremely common and lowers your risk a lot.

Benefit of running in instructor group…. Everyone moves along pretty decent and no trains
