I’ve noticed that every time after starting up the car and driving and braking a bit, the brakes would make a loud squealing noise when I brake, but would go away after some time of driving it for a bit. Only does this after starting it up and goes away after a bit of driving. It’s been doing this ever since I got the car about half a year now and not sure why it does this sometimes. Should I be worried?

You'll notice that it'll do it more right after a wash lol

You’ll notice it even more so if you replace the pads for grippier ones. Cheap ceramic pads are your best bet for the least squeal and everyday driving.

Thanks for posting this - I'm relieved!

As a new Owner, the cold brake noises over the past 2 weeks have had me (and my neighbors LOL) concerned to the point I came on the Forum today to post a question asking for advice. Combined with getting a pebble stuck in the brakes on day 4 (which almost made me poop my pants from the awful sounds for a few minutes) and breaking out the electrical diagram a day later to replace a blown fuse, its been a bit of a rough start. Love driving it though :)

I would re-bed those brakes by driving 50mph and just slamming on the brakes a few times without stopping on an open road. it's possible you got crud build up.

My 2020 makes no noise.

Like Calvin said, you may not have enough transfer film. Bedding them in again certainly won’t hurt. Outside temp and humidity make a big difference as well. I drive with my track pads on all year round and rarely hear a thing. Until…. it gets cold out, humidity changes, etc. Even then, you can modulate the pedal (brake differently) and lessen the noise.

Funny thing you all mention this. TODAY I heard a squeaky noise in one of the rear tires On my weekly drive out to get something in target.

I told my wife: hold I’m gonna brake hard and see if it goes away, and it did go away, but came back up.

I wonder if is one of the pads / rotors acting up. Will investigate more tomorrow.

That’s funny man! I swear I remember that like yesterday. My wife would have me change them after track weekends. It was gawd awful. Now it rarely does it and I no longer change them. Or we’re just used to it… Some people would tell us it’s not a track car unless she squeals a bit. And every now and then you get a random stranger excitedly ask, “you track it?” ?
