Effectively it's an android tablet basically, so yeah it can run android apps, it does have APK loaders already on it, and it has access to play store
Oh nice, I might grab one to do exactly what I stated above. Hows the performance, is it snappy?

Wish I could get this box to work. These Android boxes are great for running non-Apple approved apps such as radar detector apps.

I bought Ottobox i3 about a month ago and tried it in my 2024 Supra Premium (JBL audio). Plugged the Ottocast i3 in the usb port and the box lit up, sat there and did not respond (i.e. show up to be paired on my head unit). Tried it several ways with no luck. The i3 install videos show that you have to pair the device with the vehicle bluetooth but I couldn't see the device to pair it (pairing process looks different in the Supra than the BMW interface in the video, the Supra head unit asks you to initiate the pairing from your device, like a phone, but the i3 box has no way to initiate pairing with the vehicle ...its just a box with no screen or buttons).Thought this was because the bluetooth name for the Supra didn't start with BMWxxxx and so it couldn't pair because the Supra's bluetooth name is different (Toyotaxxxx) and therefore the box couldn't recognize and auto pair with the car. 'Figured it was a i3 box software issue and the firmware would need to be edited or something.

I"ve used AI Android boxes like this in my GR86 and FRS with no problems but this one didn't work. I've tried several 'BMW only' Android boxes on my Supra to no avail.

Returned it to Amazon (easy return but more expensive to buy).

Any tips on how to get the box to respond to the pairing request? What did you see when you plugged it in?

Edit: Ordered another one and will report on if I can get it to work using tips from others on this board.

Thanks RedDog

Have you tried running/sideloading an apk like Headunit Reloaded? Afaik it should allow for the device to act as a receiver for Android Auto.

Bought another Ottocast i3 AI Box to try again. Having no luck in getting it to work.
Specifically:
2024 Supra Premium MT with JBL system.
Unpaired every other bluetooth device, including my iPhone used for Carplay.
Plugged in Ottocast i3 to USB.
Ottocast started to flash on and off.
Went to 'Connect to New Device' screen
Selected 'Apple Carplay' option
Next screen: Connect Carplay and confirm selected
Next screen: Use Carplay device to start a search for Carplay
Results: Nothing. Ottocast sits and blinks for a while and then goes to a steady blue light.

Seems like the system is waiting for a response from the Ottocast box, like when I pair my iPhone.

What am I doing wrong?
Thx

Not sure why it's not connecting for you unfortunately, worked for me first time with it being on the exact same screen as yours.

The ottocast unit has a blue steady light while connecting to the iDrive system, and just worked from there really ...

I'll try this and let you know if it works!

As a follow up. I'm returning the box. Does not work on my Supra.
Reached out for support from Ottocast and support is minimal to non-existent.

I bought one of these as well. Cannot get it to work in my Supra whatsoever.

Worked perfectly in my bmw. Connected first try. Unfortunately, that is not why I bought it. Return it goes.
