Only the former Corvette owners who have not yet realized that stereotypical Vette owner mindsets & behavior must cease the moment the car leaves your possession. That chapter of your life is closed, so act like it.

;)

Yeah I dunno what it is with certain *cough* older Vette owners, but you always get those types. I'm loving the community here and on the road. Plenty of car guys, and everyone just loves being a driver first. Cars are meant for enjoyment, there isn't any one "best" car cause everyone's tastes change, but people can be stubborn especially Vette guys lol.

I think I've decided on an exhaust and it's gotta be the Tomei dual exhaust. Anyone who has it, how do you like it? The sounds from what I've listened to so far are ridiculous in such an awesome way. Driving the car home, I'm just falling in love with it the more I drive it. It certainly is a special car.

Most on this site like the AWE or the SP1-R if you're wanting single exit. I'm stock exhaust with a Redstar heat shielded catless downpipe, and love the sound/gains while maintaining the oem look. It's also a beautiful piece. Not that yr gonna be looking at it anyway haha

I kind of like the dual exhaust. Not sure though.

Another night drive. Burned up some gas, did another cruise through SF & the Bay and she's parked for the night. How do people not already have 100k miles on their cars? I can't stop driving it lol. I really hope with good maintenance and upkeep this car lasts forever.

@Jazyjason The Tomei exhausts, both single and dual, are extremely loud to the point of being unlivable from every owner I’ve spoken to. If going high flow catted, my recommendation would be the AWE Touring resonated. I’m personally between that and the HKS Super Turbo.

When I bought my first Corvette over 30 years ago, my friends all made fun of me, asking me how many gold chains I was wearing, etc. At the track, everyone would make fun of me except for the Porsche owners, who simply hated me without getting to know me first.

Anyway, congrats Jason (OP) and I hope you get your hopefully minor issue resolved quickly. I am honestly appalled that the selling dealer didn't even bother to do an oil change.

Can I go out on a limb here and suggest that instead of spending all of that money to modify your car, that instead you spend the money for track days? You'll become a better driver and will very likely have more fun than you would drag racing Corvettes at stop lights. And you've got some really awesome racetracks in your neighborhood.

And I never drag race Corvettes. Somewhat infamous Youtubie video here.

This is exactly how I felt when I first got mine; I got it on July 4th with a 4-day weekend and put easily 1,000 miles on it in that span.

As long as you keep up with oil changes these cars should last well into the 6 digits with no issues. Multiple users here have absolutely abused them throughout dozens of track days, some with significant power modifications, and have never had a break down.

You might want to take a look at valved exhaust systems.
Grail is a known German brand that just recently started to ship their exhausts to the US.
It's loud when you want it to be and quieter with the press of a button.
I would never put a non valved exhaust on my cars.

I put ~30k on my car in the first 1.5yrs. Lots of traveling in it.

The cool thing about getting out of the C8 is my payment, insurance and down was significantly cheaper on the Supra compared to the C8. Even with 44k down roughly on the C8, the amount financed was something crazy like 120K (total) after warranties, tax, etc. But it was the only car (so far) that I intended on paying well above principal on monthly payments to pay it off faster.

The Supra on the other hand, I put a significantly cheaper down on, and when the buyback process on the C8 concludes, all the money I put on the car is returned to me. So, not only will I have the cash for mods (already budgeted), but it's always been my intention to take the Supra to track days. Sonoma Raceway is right up the road from me : )

Another reason I've been driving the piss out of my Supra is I know I have to learn the car.

Wait, what? wtf APR did you have? Aren't MSRP like $90k? Sounds like the dealer hosed you on the purchase price and APR. The trans dying was probably a good thing for that situation. Get out of jail free card.

Do I even want to know what you payed for the Supra?

MSRP is 90, but then you factor in tax title, license, CA gas guzzler tax, and the damn extended warranty on the C8 was 9 grand. It adds up! So while my down took the sting out of it, the total for the entire package on a C8 imo just isn't worth it. I should have clarified, with the down total was like 120, but my payoff was closer to 60k. It's confusing because while the car was 90, I didn't pay MSRP. The dealership basically gave me 9k in options for free on the car compared to the first lemon C8. You can see why guys hairs would start turning grey if their brand new C8 just shat a 20k DCT off the lot. (No greys for me yet thankfully lol).

It doesn't add up to almost twice as much. You basically payed $164k for a $90k car.

SF sales tax is 8.625%. That is only $7,762 on $90,000.

Either way, you are out of that crap deal.

What did you pay for the Supra?
