I looking to install 285 35R 19 tires (rear) on my 2021 Supra OEM wheels. Tire guy states that the tire is too big and will rub. I have searched the forum over the last few days about tires sizes and OEM wheels. All that I have found are cars that have been lowered, this doesn’t help; because my car is not lowered, and I have no plan to do so.

So, will I have rubbing issues with a 285 35R 19 tires in the rear?

I am staying with OEM tires in the front. Is there a concern with having 255 (Front) and 285 (Rear)? Any issues?

Are you planning to run spacers? I have 10mm front and 13mm rear on stock ride height. 305/35/19 on rear OEM wheel, I’m also running 275/35/19 on front on OEM set of rears up front, you can stuff a lot of tires on with just 8-10mm spacers to clear the inside. This is one of the reasons I’m glad I didn’t lower my car as I can put the tuned power down on larger better tires.

Do you think those rears would be rubbing with 15mm spacers?

I don't have enough knowledge to answer question. But I believe it's time to learn more about spacers. Thanks for the feedback.

Sorry, that was a question for @MoTeC_R since he’s running 305’s on 13mm’s and would have a good idea on whether it’ll rub or not

Also note that tires, while they may show they are the same sizes, some have much wider shoulders. I found summer Continental's and BS summer Potenza's run wider so if that wide look is what you're after, might be good to studies those as well.

Potenza's are pretty heavy though.

No the primary issue is inside clearance, 2MM won’t make the difference outside clearance wise.

Thanks to all that provided help. I have spoken with Reggie at Tire Rack and he was helpful and the tire with fit without an issue. I have decided to go with 265 35r 19 and 285 35r 19.
