The Master Tech at Dublin Toyota gave me a call today and it looks like we'll be able to get that EVAP leak looked at first thing tomorrow. Once that is all sorted and my buyback completed next week, I can send the deposit for parts on my build to the tuner.

Only the former Corvette owners who have not yet realized that stereotypical Vette owner mindsets & behavior must cease the moment the car leaves your possession. That chapter of your life is closed, so act like it.

;)
The only reason I brought it up is due to the fact I was attacked.
I would never forget the two split windows or the three Z06s ,
Whos got the mine set backwards?

Sorry for the late update it's been a fun one. Well lets see. The Supra is finally fixed. It took 2-3 weeks of the car sitting at Dublin Toyota, but they finally got it dialed in. They replaced two EVAP purge valves which fixed the CEL. Had to wait on parts from Kentucky.

On the 14th of last month, I finally signed paperwork relinquishing control of that cursed C8 and I could not be happier to see it go. I have STILL not gotten my entire down payment back though. Fremont Chevrolet's business office seems to think sitting on 10k in cancelled service contracts for 5 weeks is an excellent way to treat customers and foster business. I am so done with this BS lol.

I actually called their check processing lady and left a voicemail asking where's my refund? I am so over car buying at this point. The Supra has been great so far. I'll be attending the meet at Sonoma next weekend, and I attended my first Supra meet about a month ago! The car and the community has been a blast.

As far as mods, unless you live under a rock I won't be throwing any extra cash into mods right now because the Nation seems to be going into a nosedive. Lots of uncertainty in tech right now, and I'm holding for the eventual recession. But aside from that, the car has been amazing. Hope you all have been good too!

(Btw this car is already bitchin' bone stock and that's saying a lot).

Hey everyone! Gosh where to begin? Apologies if my previous posts were a tad negative. The whole situation with the C8 faded from memory 2 weekends ago as I was invited as part of the Nor Cal Supra group to attend the GT World Cup Challenge at Sonoma Raceway.

Man, if there is anything I’m feeling it’s thankfulness at being able to experience and appreciate such an amazing car and an even more amazing community.

The entire experience was so awesome, and being a newer member kinda got the royal treatment (lol thanks guys). I got to do a Hot Lap in a GR Corolla, rode in Discord member Ghosts Supra for the Parade Lap on Saturday, and even my personal Supra was in the corral for Sunday’s race.

I’ve been tearing the shit out of the car loving every second. I’m finally learning how to drive her right, and getting more connected as time goes by. I’ve put 3400 miles on the car since ownership, and can’t wait to double her OG miles at 12k.

My plan is to prep the car for track usage at Sonoma, getting a race helmet, and going for rides as a passenger with Ghost to get a feel for the track. Then to track lol. Now I’m sitting here loving the car stock (used another members OBDU tool to keep the valves open to 100% and now she sounds siiiick), but musing over mods. But that’s later

Anyways, if you see some Rowdy white dude around the Bay Area bumming his way in a Red Supra with a big smile on his face? That’s me. I’ve absolutely fallen head over heels for this car, and can’t stop enjoying and appreciate every second of it.

Seriously? How do people not know just how good this car is? Smitten.

?

Did you get your money back on the C8 warranty? 9K for a warranty is absolutely out of control but seems to fit with the other blatantly shady shit that dealer is doing. I moved from my 23 MT Supra, which I miss, into a 24 Z06. For me to buy the genuine GM warranty through one of the largest dealers in the country is about $2500 and that extends it to a total of 8 years/80,000 miles. The dealer I bought the car from wanted $3500 for that same GM platinum warranty but 9K is absolutely ridiculous.

Good luck with the new car! I can say the Supra as a whole vehicle felt smoother and better built than my Z06 does and I miss that solid feeling. I didn't worry once about the reliability of the Supra and got to 14K miles. I also didn't lose much at all considering it was nearly 2 years old. I think the Z06 has probably dropped more value in six months and a fraction of the mileage of the Supra did in all the time I owned it.

Funny, I have been thinking of trading from a modified Supra to a new Z06....

I want to be careful not to hijack the thread but I absolutely love the Z06. My only worry about it is reliability but knock on wood, it's been fine thus far. The Z06 is probably the best car I've ever driven and was definitely the best I could afford new. With that said, the Supra had its advantages and I wish I could have kept it.

I have not. I’m still waiting on a total of 11k to get back to me. Last text I told the finance guy Justin I hadn’t gotten shit yet and he’d “get me a tracking number” ?. I’m not gonna tell you what to do, but that 24 Z06 is a ticking time bomb.

Harkeem at Fremont Chevy is the main service guy there and they got a bay FULL of C8’s Z06 and non Z06 ALL needing replacement DCT’s. I poked my head around the corvette forums and now GM isn’t even accepting buybacks anymore. You gotta fight them on each States individual lemon law.

I don’t know what your long term plans are on that Z06, but brother that DCT at some point is gonna fuck up. And BAD. First one failed me at 8 miles on the first car, and 3000 on the second C8. I was done after that.

Frankly? I’ll never buy another American made or GM product ever again. Compared to the Supra, the C8 just feels like it’s trying to be an over engineered cheap “exotic” that Billy Bob can take to the golf course on a weekend.

Don’t get me wrong it’s a beautiful looking car. But is it worth the crazy prices and risk of detonating a DCT? Not even close. And I waited and saved 5 years for my C8. I’ve owned 3 Camaro’s and a C7 prior. That should tell you all you need to know about my feelings on Corvette…

Naw man it’s all good! Trust me I tried to love the C8. But I’ll be real, after the first car? Driving the second gave me so much anxiety cause it was always always in the back of my mind it was gonna happen again. And it did.

These stupid cars are like 90-170k depending on if it’s a Z51, a Z06, or an E-Ray. I hate to say this but at the end of the day it’s a GM product. And their quality has just taken a nose dive. I’ve heard so many horror stories it’s not even close.

I’ll put this in for food for thought. I purchased the first C8 in October 2024 and put 44k down. It’s now April 2025 and I STILL have not gotten all my money back from this nightmare.

You do not want to have to deal with GM and a lemon law attorney. My Supra gives me so much peace of mind I don’t even bat an eye thinking about her reliability at all.

Do you want to know why your Z06 dropped value so fast? All C8’s have (except the ZR1) and it’s due to the stupid ass transmission problems for all their years. They even fired Tage over it and let him go.

C8 values are dropping like a stone cause word is already on the street: the C8 is unreliable and a replacement DCT is gonna cost you 20 grand minimum.

Yet I bet if you walk into Fremont or Dublin chevy? You’ll see markups on all of them still.

It most definitely is a GM product. I know I'd feel the same way if I had your experience so I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. I'll be buying the extended warranty no doubt but I'm waiting to see if i can make it problem free through the first year.

The good news here is the Supra rules and you shouldn't ever have any issues. It. The peace of mind with a Supra is a wonderful thing.

Yeah man, all I can say is know Cali’s lemon law backward and forward in case you need it. On new cars it’s 18 months and 18k miles from date of purchase, and if your car has been in for the same issue 4 times or sat in a shop for over 30 days it’s an automatic lemon.

the scumbags at Fremont overnight rushed a new DCT on the second C8 trying to get the work done in under 30 days so my car wouldn’t qualify as an automatic lemon.

The first car waited over 60 days for a new DCT…. Just saying man be careful. And stay on top of the fluid service. They are denying warranty claims on C8 DCT’s if you do not do the mandatory service and there’s a record of it being done through Chevy.

https://www.dca.ca.gov/acp/index.shtml

oh whatever you do DO NOT accept another Z06 from Fremont. They will cook the books and commit lemon law fraud and “trade” the first lemon into the second. I only caught it when my lemon law attorney saw it and his head spun so fast.

Once I said attorney and lemon law fraud, GM changed their tune real fast on that second C8 buyback.

Not to double reply, but just FYI there’s a thread on the corvette forums that states all extended warranties are going to increase their prices by 30% due to the tariff crap…

In the Corvette General forum there’s a guy asking for lemon law info as of the 9th cause his car has sat for over 30 days waiting on a DCT.

I dunno man. An extended warranty on a Z06 could be an entire build cost on a Supra lol. If it were me? I’d private sell that thing and get another Supra, pocket the money you’d save and put a portion aside from the difference for whatever build you want to do.

Supra gang again? ?❤

Edit: Come to think of it, if you are talking C8 Z06 money, have you looked at a used Acura NSX, or like an R8 or even a Huracan? Those would be light years more reliable than a Z06 ironically as long as you keep up on the maintenance.
