Hi it's me. That friend.

Damn that sucks! Any understeer? Can you add more neg camber or maybe even stiffen up the front? Is the rear rotating easily or have too much grip?

I was recently having the same issue.

@rwense Excellent write up! Apples to oranges, but I installed the FA 500s w/ Swifts (14 clicks F, 12 clicks Rear) on my Skyline a couple months ago and couldn’t be happier. She’s just a street car and a cruiser, but they feel absolutely amazing. Will definitely be looking into the 510s when it’s time to upgrade the Supra. Currently running Swift lowering springs and Whiteline front bar on the Supra (just street use as well). Previous experience with coils were the Feal 441+ with Swift spring upgrade on my 2009 STi, absolutely loved those.

No problem man! Lmk if you have any questions when it comes time. I was also looking at the Feal 441 prior to the FA but considering there being a lot more track people on FAs I figured they would be a safe bet. Merry Xmas! ?

@rwense @Rensuhlo @FLtrackdays - Did you guys ever figure out the cause/fix for the inner shoulder wear? I know the season hasn’t started yet but just wondering.

Any rub issues I had was up front and before getting coilovers. We used 10mm spacers all around & probably only needed 5-8 mm. Everything after that was outer wear (rubbing on the fender/hood) until adding enough neg camber. Coilovers added more wiggle room.

Summary, spacers, more aggressive track alignment = for me, some toe out up front (turning in quicker & back end to rotate better) & more neg camber up front where I was chewing on the outer tires.

This isn't the issue he's referring to.

He's referring to the fact that @Rensuhlo and I had issues running v730s that tended to chord on the inner shoulder.

The issue has not been resolved as my car has been on stands until spring. However there doesnt seem to be one singular answer. Most likely the biggest contributing factor atleast in my case was too low of a spring rate. HOWEVER this combined with a flat ride height, a stiff front bar, tires with very stiff sidewalls, and running -4.1° camber all compounded. So after some discussions with friends, I will be going to a stiffer spring rates. 16kF, 20kR and adding ~0.5" of rake. So not only will my aero work better and get less understeer, this should also fix the issue.

Something to note however is I did not have this issue with Nankang CRSs or A052s (both softer and 40 profile).

Additionally I have spherical caster bushings thus the issue of toe out under heavy braking is not the issue.

-4.1 camber - wow!!! Glad you got her resolved. My setup is obviously way more basic. I’m without aero as well. Regardless, dialing down my sway bars a notch and having less understeer helped me too. My Ohlins street & track coilovers are much less aggressive. But can still make more adjustments than stock.

Edit: Just found this online. I don’t SIM race or even practice on one (probably should). Crazy how so much of it translates over to what we’re doing. Obviously we can’t do all this with a click of a button or try it out as easily. But still, pretty impressive for a SIM guide ?

No. I actually stopped attending track days. I'm just over the drama of DEs and I don't have a deep enough wallet to get competitive.

Something to note, I run that much camber because I mainly run Nankang CRA or A052s, I.e. soft sidewall tires that LOVE camber. So my setup is also not ideal for super stiff sidewalls

He’s probably kidding ? Or at least he usually is. Most of us likely don’t have deep enough wallets to compete on a regular basis. We have FARA Academy down here where you can time trial your street car w/out spending a fortune. And many of the other HPDEs are mega chill. You just have to find one you like.

I can think of one or two that’s overly for beginners only and another one that’s so loose you’d need to be advanced only to enjoy it. Key is finding what right for you ?

One local track org has made it increasingly harder to make friends where I'm at because they've used their professional network to slander my name. All because I don't drink their kool-aid and let the org owner bend me over every chance he could (I did branding for them and had been seeing problems being swept under the rug).

WTF ? black flagged for what??? Being a better driver, good car control & quicker than everyone else... looked like complete bullshit to me! That can’t be their highest run group. Can it?

I’d find another group & track to drive at. Those corner workers obviously need to go watch & learn what cars can do if driven properly. They’d flip out at Sebring or Homestead with NASA, Chin, FARA, PDG, you name it. Wish you were closer. Would love to see that yellow MDH tuned Supra ? in a real red group.

:topic: Especially since it looks like you got her all setup properly.
