The MKV is on par with a base Cayman and the Supra only has a 3y/36K warranty. Ouch!
That's true for basic warranty, but it looks like it also has a 5 year/60,000 powertrain warranty. I winced at the 3 year/36K as well before I saw the next line under it.

Is it just me, or does it seem odd that there's no mention of transmission used in the Porsche or BMW? Like they just decided to skip over that detail for the sake of not bringing up a sore point with the Supra. I assume there were no manuals in the mix to make things even, but it's a little odd to just not even mention it.

Still a great review with good info. The performance is definitely impressive. I'd rather see it compared to the other two in their sub-$60k configurations to really judge at that price point, but this is good.
Probably because the other two are even slower with their manuals?

All the cars do mid 12s at 110-115- not slow! The Supra is clearly the value here, and from the reviews, compares very well subjectively.

If they do a manual, Iā€™m in. Until or unless they do, Iā€™m not. Call me old school, but Iā€™ve never driven a sporty car that wasnā€™t more fun with three pedals. Not ā€œbetterā€- itā€™s clear that automatics are faster, just more fun

I'm not questioning why they tested automatics, I'm questioning why there was no mention of transmissions at all. I keep expecting the big magazines to come out with some more in-depth analysis, but they seem to be just telling us what the numbers are. That's all good of course, just seems kind of lacking.

Best mpg! Woohoo!
I'm starting to care a little. Gas is so expensive in SoCal, so it really is a fairly good reason to buy it over the others.

Standard Toyota warranty, hell, just about everything in the states.

Just to retain all info on this thread:

I've to say, I saw the weight distribution elsewhere as well. Why is it 52/48???
I'm going to guess that the driver sits so close to the rear axle that they took that into account to get a more even weight distribution.

It clearly shows all of the configuration and statistical data at the end of the article.

The 52 is the front end. They will be measuring sans passengers. C&Ds total measured curb weight was a little higher so they probably had less gas in this car. These numbers fluctuate so much with the level of gas and there is no standard across all car mags for how much to have in when they measure.

Would be nice to see some corner weight numbers on a base and a premium worth the same amount of gas in the tank.

What he means is that the car levels out with the sticker in the car as they sit towards the back.

That's right. I hope Toyota's testing and failure analysis would apply to the entire car.

By 'they' I should have clarified as Toyota. The car is front heavy right now 52% weight over the front axle but once you include driver and passenger it edges closer to the advertised 50/50 distribution.

The warranty for the Supra is exactly the same as any other Toyota from my understanding.

Maybe because all three automated transmissions are equally good and there's not much difference worth mentioning among them.

Doubtful. But it could come from the Premium car with a full tank of gas. 1% of this car is 33 lbs, a full tank of gas is around 100lbs so the 2% difference can come from that alone.
