What is everyone’s plan who is looking to get this colour. With regards to paintwork protection. Ceramic coat or PPF wrap? Which brands etc?
I was planning to get PPF but when I got in contact with the closest place that does it they were unsure of how it would work with matte paint. They had a matte PPF available but the fact that they seemed unsure of how well it would work, along with the fact that there would be edges on the film made me think about alternatives.

I found that Gyeon do a matte ceramic coating which I'm now planning on trying out. I had a Gtechniq ceramic on my GT86 and was happy with the protection it provided from the likes of sap and bird poo, but the only thing was the stone chips, no protection from that.

I was quoted around £4000 for full car PPF, the ceramic would be considerably cheaper and since matte no need to clay or polish before so application should be easy. Might still consider it for the front because of chips but if it is BMW paint it should hopefully be more resistant than the thin GT86 paint.

Yeah I’m not totally sold on a £4000 wrap looked at the Gyeon Q2 Matt protection aswell, I have contacted a local detailer who uses it to find out if it’s any good.

Cool, let me know what they think of it once you find out! I've seen positive reviews of their normal Q2 so hopefully the matte will be good as well.

I did Xpel on my Cayman. I like it so far. Honestly, the biggest difference with a ppf is from the installer, not the film itself. I thought about doing a ceramic coating on top of the ppf and on the rest of the car.

Does anyone know if the Phantom Matte color is the same as the 1st Supra at the Barrett Jackson auction? I heard that was a one off color.

I plan to try negotiate Toyota to offer the PPF before colleciton. They can usually get third parties in to sort it

Went and saw my car yesterday and tried to take loads of photos with various lightings and positions to try and show off the colour in daylight. Like most pics of the car they don't really do it justice. The paint feels smooth to touch but not like gloss paint. It has a nice sheen to it which is slightly reflective but obviously still matte. It really shows off the lines and curves of the body, very happy with the colour!

Album of images I took, bear in mind that the car is very dirty from transport. Will get more once I actually get the car and detail it properly.

It's number 1 Launch Edition. Within the United States you won't be able to get a Phantom with Red Interior. I believe the UK ones or the EU ones are though. In fact, the Supra that Schmee is getting soon will be more or less that same car or at least the closes variation. Any phantoms you see on the streets of the US will have Black Interiors and won't be Launch Editions.

Still can’t decide whether to ppf it or not. Really In two minds as I don’t want sting chips, and re spraying parts in matte will be very expensive
