I'm in doubt the supra value will plummet. Still not sure how many they will build

I agree with the state of mind. I'm 38 and WAS sold on buying a Supra. Just waiting for an opportunity to test drive one since I'm 6'3 and need to fit. Most expensive fast cars I come across are driven well below the speed limit by "elderly" people, mostly men, in Corvettes, Porsches, etc. Such a shame. I think the Supra and it's 50k price is a lot more attainable. Especially in a couple years when they have plummeted in value like most BMW products do. I do not expect them to hold their value well. People around my age with a halfway decent job should be able to pick one up. 60-65k and up is a bit higher bracket that's mostly filled with more seasoned individuals.
I agree the 50k number is more attainable, and I am also worried that the Supra value could drop like a stone. No one knows what will happen, so some people will take a chance and get the Supra while others will wait to a least drive the C8 before committing. I am keeping an open mind till I see and sit in the Supra. But damn Chevy sure is making people sit up and take notice with this car
And yeah, some of us old men just putt around at the speed limit but we have a smile on our face. Life is short so enjoy whatever you drive even if it is a Corolla!

There is a good bit of negative comments on the Corvette c8 forums, first is not my Corvette because its mid engined, second is the looks mainly the rear, and third is the no manual option. Think the Corvette has a older fanbase since I seen the average age of buyers is 57 to 60 and not supra lovers who haven't even driven or own one
Lmao, you sound exactly like MK4 people. "The MK5 is not a Supra because it doesn't have a manual, has a BMW drivetrain and blah, blah, blah...."

Guess every model that dares to evolve has them

Driven by old men? What do you consider old, and what do you think the average age will be for these new Supra's? I would guess not many young guys would be able to afford this car. But seeing as I am old (60) I could be wrong. Age is a state of mind (I think) but my memory is not what it used to be.
If you're old, then I've got one foot in the grave at 62. I used to be bothered by the term "mid-life crisis" but no longer. It's at this point in most "old men's" lives that they can afford cars like these. I heard it when I got my Z3 and again when I got my Cayman. I'm sure I'll hear it again.

Doesn't matter. Buy what you like, like what you buy and drive it like you stole it! Cars are to be enjoyed, not put on a pedestal.

Yes, I have heard that term a few times myself but I stopped worrying about what other people thing a long time ago. I also agree with what you say about driving it. What fun is having a car just to park in the garage to look at it? I have a buddy who has a brand new Corvette and only put 300 miles on it last year. I can't understand that. You sound pretty smart for such an old man!

What’s the difference between now and in 1997 when the C5 just came out and was under 40k? Nothing new that American performance cars are always cheaper compared to imports.
The difference is the vette is priced higher, has better stats, and arguably a better value and styling. The interior is beautiful with some questions on the climate buttons in the center console but damn. The new vette is an example of a company digging deep and pulling out a true halo car. Toyota should be embarrassed.

I just think its funny how much bitching whining and moaning I've heard about no manual trans supra and then they build their first Corvette with a definite no manual trans in the works. I havent heard a gripe yet
There is no gripe about the the C8 being auto because it looks like a supercar, the mclaren 720 etc is auto only and its a super car and nobody cares.

The supra is no super car, its a rebadged z4(idc what anybody says), it should come w a manual so people that enjoy driving can shift their own gears, its not so much about fast car, but fun. While I would never buy a corvette, you can't help but think that they built the car and priced it accordingly. Much better interior layout than the supra.

Toyota should of just renamed the car a Celica, and produce another superior version of the Celica in house and have it cost 80-100k( have it be wider and longer like the FT-1 concept). Have it have its own Toyota interior and its own Toyota straight 6. If the car manufactures are moving towards electrification, the Supra should have gone out with a bang with their own ICE straight 6. We waited this long, whats waiting another 3-5 years. Think poor mans LFA, produced in much higher quantities to drop the price.

I can't wait till a year or so when the hype finally dies down and the Zupra is just another 370z.

Outside of North America, the corvette has no market.

The supra will be sold globally - 2 totally different cars and markets.

As an example ... On autotrader currently in the UK there are 490k cars for sale, of which 39 are Corvette's.

C8 Corvette will be sold in rhd markets why it also has fold in mirrors and turn signals on them

yall need to stop

The 86 is the Celica
The Supra is the mainstream 50-60k car
The Lexus LC 500 is the 100k car
The LFA is a half mill

They did this the proper way. Lexus is the 100k brand and they gonna keep it that way. They are positioning this car in the same place as the MK4. I can respect if you are upset about BMW but the car is positioned correctly.

I'm all for the BMW relationship. The only thing I wish they would have done is their own interior. This would have gone a long way to quiet the badge engineering critics.

With that said, I can't wait until tomorrow to drive mine 1st hand!

This, 100%

When the A80 was a halo-car, there was (virtually) no Lexus.

The A80 was an expensive GT with impressive potential (Lexus LC and LC-F)
The A90 is a cayman hunter.

The A70 was a poser :p

Different focus.

Every Supra has had a slightly different direction. I've made my peace with it - I'm not an A80 enthusiast, but a Supra enthusiast. I like their differences.

Like I said American performance cars have always been the bargain for decades, there’s nothing new.
