Late to party but if future me were in the market for a car like the Supra, I'd absolutely pay a premium for a car that was known to be stock or mostly stock and owned by no more than two or three people. Cars like this are so easy to abuse. My observation is kids these days (yeah I'm getting old) don't know how good they got it with a car like this, and it shows when you go and look at used ones.

Before the manual transmission was announced, I looked at maybe 10 ZF8 auto cars and every single one had less than 50k miles and looked like absolute shit, inside and out. Wings, carbon fenders, hoods, which is actually kind of cool IMO but it is a hint to the mindset of the previous owner. Who knows what else was messed with.

I got some backstory from sales person on two of them and one was a trade in from "an obnoxious 25 year old" (who apparently tried to get into a BMW M car) and another was a trade in from some kids dad because the kid beat the car to hell. These cars are getting too cheap now and are falling into irresponsible hands.

As already mentioned you dont buy a car like this trying to preserve its value, its really not special enough at this point in time to even have that conversation IMO. Drive and enjoy it!

I called him out on his "You all must be angry liberalzzz!", which is cute coming from a group that lost their F'in minds about a stupid Cracker Barrel logo change.
I could care less about Cracker Barrel but love Sidney Sweeney‘s jeans 🧬 😜

My favorite part. "Collectors want the first year cars"

So about that, in the MKIV Generation, they sell WAY higher in last year cars lol. 1998 for USDM and 2001 for JDM MKIVS. For those USDM it goes 98/97 most desired, 93-95 middle, and 96 worst (because only auto)

Manual MKVs will do well vs the auto only 20-22 values down the road imo, because like 4k MTs were made vs the other ~26k in auto. Special editions and colors will help any year but to say 2020 will be the most valued is laughable.

Yeah, can confirm the same with the mitsubishi side as well. 3000GT and DSMs final years (99) and facelifts (95 3000gt, 97 dsm) fetch consistent premium over the launch versions.

FWIW... among other reasons, I walked away from a 45th Anniv edition in part because it had some kind of HKS suspension, AEM intake, and some other things. I was kind of excited about not having to get a couple things myself that were on the car, but I got wary of those two things specifically. Having bought already-modded cars before and gotten burned... I'm happy and lucky I got another fresh start. I don't want to guess what happened to the car. All the stuff I currently am planning is reversible cosmetic things (plus Armaspeed intake, that's just an obvious and preferred addition for anyone) and I'm plenty happy.

But like others have said, hopefully you got the car because... you want it, not because you want to be afraid of what the next person might think or do.
