I've searched the forum, I found a thread from 2021 that Ceramic Pro is good.

Is a dealer applied Ceramic no good? If dealer Ceramic is not good I want to apply the best stuff. Is Ceramic Pro still highly recommended in 2025? Suma?

I suppose I might as well get the wheels done too.....

Anyone here on Vancouver Island know a good detail shop? I'd like to hear real reviews not just some yelp or google reviews.

Dealer ceramic is always going to be spray-on crap that lasts 90 days or less. Maybe, even, 30 days or less. All dealer add-ons are designed to make you pay the maximum possible price for their lowest possible cost, so whatever they offer will always be trash-tier quality.

OptiCoat by Optimum was basically the top tier standard back in the day - the stuff I put on my Lexus in 2010 is now only able to be installed by a "professional" detailers.

They have products that you can use now and are wonderful.

https://opticoat.com/collections/protection

Optimum Hyper Shine Ceramic Coating
and
Optimum Gloss Coat Ceramic Coating.

Make sure to polish the car first (if its not brand new) and then spray and wipe with bottled water and alcohol mixture and wipe down each panel and then apply the product.

All of these others companies basically ripped off Optimum by employees stealing the formulas and leaving the company....

TY so much. So if my car is 2 days old but sat in the show room for 10 months, I should probably ask them what ceramic product they used? And, would you say sitting 10 months I should polish it (or have a pro do all this perhaps) ?

Dealership wanted to charge me 1500 CAD for ceramic coat but I got it free. Perhaps if they were charging that much they were using a good product? I know, unlikely it was a good product.

I have too much to learn regarding detailing, ceramic/wax etc. For 10 years with my jeep all I do is go to bay car wash, rinse thoroughly , soap then rinse again, I never used friction/elbow geese at all.

Your car came across the Atlantic on a boat then across Canada on a train. It should have paint correction before ceramic coating.

You can spray your car with an iron remover -- I used Sonax Iron Fallout Cleaner -- and watch the cleaner turn colour everywhere that wasn't covered with protective film. That'll give you an idea of how good a job Jimmy's boys did on the wash and ceramic coat. Spoiler: not great.

So I guess I need to study paint correction now.,,,, this is complicated
Unfortunately, everything is a rabbit hole.. depends how deep you want to go and how much money you want to throw at it. Most (hopefully all) detailers will colour correct before applying a clear coat and/or PPF.

And besides, you should never ever trust a stealer. Ever.

For what they are going to charge you for having a professional "install" of ceramic coating, you could do it yourself and be ahead.

If you are worried about doing it on the Supra, you could try it on your Jeep as an experiment....

I doubt the dealership is using anything other than some spray wax that they buy in bulk...
