3" vs 4" exhaust on stock DP

Going custom single. Don't see myself upgrading dp anytime soon. Judging by the 3.15" bottleneck, is it safe to assume I'm not missing much by just going 3" catback compared to 3.5/4"? Need some flow guys to put their insight, much appreciated. Thanks

In your case, without changing the DP, it will most likely only affect the exhaust tone. Remember that the stock catalytic converter already muffles the exhaust sound quite well.

From what I heard. General rule of thumb is, the bigger the pipe, the deeper the tone. Resonaters and mufflers will also impact the sound.

There is no reason to do it for the HP-gains as it will almost give none.

So... Removing the OEM exhaust resonator or OPF/GPF is your cheapest option for a louder exhaust.

I think I'll go with 3.5", incase I ever step up to the AA catted in the future

AA catted to mid midfield section is still 3.15"
I read it wrong on the site, I thought it exited 3.5" haha. I think most singles either match the 3.15" or go up to 3.5", I think I'll upsize too rather than downsize to 3" just incase I upgrade to HFC in the future.

Exhaust is a tube. The gas that moves through the tube acts like a fluid. The amount of fluid that can be moved in a tube is limited by the narrowest point of the tube. Therefore, if the exit of the OEM downpipe is 3.15", you will get 3.15" of flow in the tube.

Not sure why this keeps getting repeated, but this primarily only true for during choked flow (gas at sonic flow, or liquid systems when cavitation arises across the orifice). In subsonic gas systems, you can have multiple restrictions, with each applying a pressure drop. Additional restrictions are not "free".
