Has anyone had the complete speedo/revs/display go black when starting the car?
I went for a drive and on the return leg, started the car and the above happened. No speed, nothing. Only thing that lit up was the bars for fuel level and engine temp.
I tried pulling over and stop/starting the car multiple times so just drive straight to the dealership. The dealership was great and a technician tool the car for a pick drive to check it out..... he asked me what happened, because as soon as he drove it, it had started working again! The only thing that had changed was I got out and locked the car and waited for 10 mins until the technician drove it,
Its really making feel like I have a lack of confidence in the car as its only 2.5yrs old. Im not blaming the dealers but this happened just after the car was in for a major service. Is it possible there was a small electrical gremlin after being plugged into the dealers software?
Either way, Im almost at the point of selling the car and put an advert up so this was the wort timing really. The dealer will bring the car in on Monday next week to check it over and if it happens again they just said to document it and video it etc.
I really want to love this car but it's the second time I have had issues and not feeling like its got enough "reliability" for a Toyota!
