I didn’t mean in terms of speed. It’s definitely much quicker than a non-turbo 996. I meant it as a comparison to the raw and more mechanical/pure feel to it vs. the luxury of modern expensive sports cars.
Gotcha

Random and probably useless factoid, but I see Supra's in a lot of the GT races I watch. It makes me proud of the Supra. It's hanging with cars well beyond its MSRP, which is cool.
I love mine, but never had a Porsche, but looking at a lot of comparisons based on speed and power, I don't care to make the leap still. Most of the Porches in the $80-120k range are mostly lateral moves at best power-wise.
I feel like, based on what I'm looking at, a Mercedes AMS GT or similar are best upgrade option. You probably won't be disappointed, even if the Porsches are better. HUGE attention getter, which is nuts cause it's only a 50-60k car. Fast enough for 99% of world, stock. Sounds good, looks good, is fun!

It's crazy how much those AMG GT's have lost their value.

Porsche is one of those kinda cars once you get into one, you don’t want to get out. As far as speed and power, Porsche isn’t just about that. It’s about everything else. Taking it around curves and having an overall refined and balanced car. Compared to my Porsche, the Supra quality is lacking but the power is comparable and once it’s tuned, it definitely can be faster. But for the money, it’s a very good bang for the buck. The OP has a newer 992 T. I think if he had a GTS, Gt3, turbo S, or etc. he definitely wouldn’t be selling it and going into a Supra. And yeah, a base 992 can definitely get spanked by a tuned Supra.

The absolute first thing to do with it before anything is figure out what alignment you want to run and have that completed. My 2021 had 9800kms when I got it and the back tires were done after one more season, terrible alignment from the factory. When I got my 2024 I drove it for 2500 miles to let everything settle then immediately had it aligned at a trusted shop. Day and night. I was fighting the thing in every corner before the alignment, and finessing it in every corner since. Some of them are atrocious from the factory. The alignment cut down the cornering adjustments needed immensely.

@luv2xlr8 it's funny you mention that. That was my first thought especially coming from a rear engine car. It appears fronts are limited unless you add camber plates. Rear seems to have more adjustability.

It's more the toe settings that can transform the Supra in stock form. Mine also wanted to kill me every chance it had until I dialed in toe better. Toe-in in the rear is the difference between a widow maker and a stable rear.

Having driven both a Turbo 992 and owned a Supra for years, I thought the 992 was the logical upgrade from the Supra, but it lacked so much character that the Supra had once I had experienced both my thought process on that pretty much went away.

With an SP1R, some good coils, a downpipe, and some E50, you will have a car that has far more character, in my opinion sounds much better, albeit at some daily driver level sacrifices, granted not large by any means.

Rear strut bar to get rid of the interior rattle, Bav sound speaker /sub upgrade, and a nice steering wheel / shift knob combo will get you right back to a premium touch & feel experience for a fraction of what the 992 cost.

A clutch and delay valve delete many of my MT friends have stated really helps with the experience on that side of the A90 as well.

I think the others here would be right in saying that it's a downgrade, when comparing to a stock Supra, but as far as potential goes, I'd say the Supra takes the win.

Agreed. 911 Turbos have always been more touring car. Even more so than a Supra.

I know it’s a drag race with no corners, and the other three cars were manual so driver ability throws in a variable, but this was fun to watch.

to be fair, nobody in the media understands the things you need to do to get proper drag times/results with the auto Supra, so it's running with a bit of a handicap.

I know. Still was fun to watch
I saw that, yes, it's entertainment. But definitely not my purpose. I want to know how a Supra will do on tight apex's and long sweepers.

Quick update, Carrera T is gone and Supra should be picked up Saturday if the dealer doesn't play any games when I get there given they already have 90% of my funds.
