Need to rant a bit - please feel free to call me unc like my kids do 😂

I like a nice weekend drive in the Supra, and sometimes a good time for that is on a Friday or Saturday evening. Here in the Chicago suburbs, that means having multiple people in one evening drive like suicidal maniacs when they see my car. Last night I had a dude in a Camaro acting crazy trying to line up with me while I’m cruising at 60mph, even leaning halfway out of his window motioning for me to line up. What in the Need For Speed - Dude, leave me alone. He finally gave up. Then about 15 minutes later, a guy in a ratted out old 3 series bimmer tailgated me so hard, I am sure there was less than 6” between our bumpers while going like 20mph in downtown traffic. He’s flashing his lights at me and weaving, then when I hit the turn lane, he flies by at WOT over 3 sets of train tracks to probably 60mph in a super busy area. I don’t get it - you like my car and consider yourself a ‘car guy’ so you do things that risk damaging my car? I’ve got black stock wheels on right now with all seasons - so the car looks nearly stock in its winter form. I’m not running around with a big wing and a flame tune…

I can ignore people, that’s fine, but some of these instances are either dangerous or risk damaging my clean car or make it look like I’m participating in hooning in busy traffic or where there are pedestrians.

I’ve had this car for over 2 years, and have shown people (wife, coworkers, friends) while driving that the mere sight of a Supra makes some people instantly floor their own car, even if headed the other direction - wtf? And it’s usually the shittiest, most ratted-out cars imaginable. Last night had me wondering if I should sell the car, though I’m not sure I really want to do that. I occasionally expect to let my teenage son drive it and I don’t need people doing crazy shit around him.

<end old man yells at cloud.exe>

Is this a common experience or just a Chicago thing or am I just a boring dude? 😂

I'm in the far west Chicago burbs and people always try to race me or they feel like they have to show off even though I'm just out their driving and minding my own business. Whenever the wife and I go out in my car she's like "Is this what it's always like when you drive your car?" and I'm just like "yeah, pretty much." I also tend to get a lot of pickup drivers acting like jackasses when they spot me.

Yeah man, it's like they're opening the stall door while I'm taking a dump at a public toilet. why they do that?

I don’t think I’d get the same kind of attention with a 911, Cayman, GT63, etc, so those have been on my mind lately.

Yeah, we got some real interesting folks. Keep it in the track. No need to endanger others. Was just wondering because the Camaro matched the rough description and timeframe and the guy on that thread is lying out his ass, lol.

When I first got mine, I had some attention from BMW drivers in my area, but it's died down over the years. I have gotten the attention of some little ones and that's made me happy. Late last year was leaving Publix in Atlanta with my buddy and a little boy pops out his mom's minivan window with his phone recording, so I gave him a rev. Was super cute, he was so amped and he was gesturing "again! again". Did it once more for him, after his mom made him close the window 🤣 Just wait til the little guy finds a T51R, he'll think it's the coolest thing in the world, lol.

I'm in Northern Lake County -this always happens anytime the weather breaks and hits the 60s everyone is out driving crazy...big reason why I sold my sportbike.

When I get people to try to race me I just wave and give them thumbs up and tell them their car looks/sounds great even if its junk - they feel better and I continue crusing.
