So I picked up an antigravity battery last Nov on Black Fri sale to replace my original 2020 BMW Agm battery. It seemed like coding the new battery type and ah with Bimmercode and then registering new battery in Bimmerlink went fine. I haven't noticed any issue when it comes to starting or anything else, but I have a code 030E07 (PWMG Restricted power availability for too long) that hasn't gone away on it's own or after clearing it.

Has anyone else delt with this code either after a new battery or in general? After doing some searching I'm still not too sure what could be causing it besides maybe the car not being happy during the battery switch. I'm not sure if I should try disconnecting the battery again or if recoding/registering again is worth a try.

re-register the battery. that code usually comes when you dont register the battery. maybe the register didnt go thru 1st time.

Fun fact. I haven't registered the lithium battery in my supra and never got that code. Not saying you are wrong, just a fun fact.

Interesting maybe I should have skipped the register part lol. Did you code the different battery type and change the AH from the oem (i think it was 105ah)?

Well I did re-register in bimmerlink. Also unhooked the battery for an hour before just to see if that did anything. Unfortunately still have the code.

Another odd thing is the auto stop start is not activating even when putting it in park. I have XHP and never turned it off in Bimmercode so that's the only time it would do that anyway. I re flashed XHP also and turned auto stop/start in the settings and it's still not working o_O

maybe do it like @razorlab. just select oem battery spec and see if that fixes it 😂

Just recently I unhooked and charged the battery up with a LFP capable charger, and re-coded it as an AGM instead of Lithium (and registered again). That seemed to do the trick -no more 030E07 code or other codes that were popping up in Bimmerlink/ecutek !!

So it seems at least with the 2020 model year the car doesn't like having the battery coded in as lithium ion. I kept the capacity setting at 60ah for now, I may check again with Antigravity to see what they suggest for that. Right now stop/start is turned off in XHP so i'll have to test if that's back working later.

From my understanding of new battery registration albeit from other makes it is primarily about 2 things. One is the load shedding strategy if the battery voltage drops to a critical point and also the current profile the charging system puts into the battery which is mainly about fuel economy. If you don't register the new battery the Control system will assume the capacity of the battery is that of the old battery and apply a charging profile accordingly which isn't a big deal just fuel wasteful. I'm betting the average Joe that gets the "free battery" install by the kid working at the local automotive parts outlet doesn't get a "battery registration" thrown in and still drives around for the next 5 or 6 years oblivious burning an extra few ccs of fuel every hour.

I’ve had a Powertex battery on my 2020 Premium for about a year and a half. I did register it as a lithium ion battery, and I’ve never had any codes or issues with it.

Interesting, did you code it with the different type like with bimmercode or just register the new battery (or both)?

I wonder if software version on the car has anything to do with it, or if there's any difference between batteries like Powertex, Antigravity, etc.

I used both Bimmercode and BimmerLink.

I got my battery prior to the DCM recall. It would be good to hear from anyone who might have installed a battery after having that update done. Incidentally, my dealer was reluctant to do that update because they had two Supras with fried head units as result of it. I declined the update.

OP did that code ever come back? I am getting the same after installing an Optima orange top lithium. Thinking about coding it back to AGM.

Nope, hasn't come back after I coded the battery type back to AGM (I left the size coded to 60ah with the new battery). Hopefully that works for you too.

Stop/Start still isn't activating, which isn't the biggest deal for me since before it only did when putting the car in park because of XHP tune. Antigravity told me typically getting the Ah rating as close as possible is recommended but I might see if putting it back at the oem size turns stop/start back on
