Hi everyone.
I haven’t been as active in the forum lately.
I’ve been having two issues with the car for a week now.
First one, the power supply warning appeared, out of nowhere. It says that the battery can’t be charged and I need to request road slide assistance.
About a month ago I installed a dashcam, the installler did it the old school way, he tapped it to the cigarette lighter, I wonder if that is the culprit or what do you guys think?. I don’t know how it is with BMW’s …Before that the car was parked for a week but it fired right up when I moved it again.
Second one, the day after the power supply warning appeared, the car started to overheat bad, the light in the cluster went all the way up, I thought it was just low on coolant so I added a little coolant on both reservoirs and took it for a spin, nope, the car overheated again and the fans turned on and wouldn’t turn off…..
I’m about to take it to the dealer but I’d like to have an idea of what would you guys think the problem is ..
I’d appreciate any input..
Best regards

Is your accessory belt intact? Have you pulled codes? We cannot diagnose through telepathy.

Stop driving the car when it’s overheated; you may cause far greater damage like a blown head gasket.

The car is at the shop now. They’re gonna check it out and no I didn’t scan it, I don’t have a scanner for bmw’s!!!
I’ll update the thread once I get news!!

Accessory belt or a broken crankshaft pulley. The ring for the accessory belt is press-fitted onto the pulley, and sometimes it comes loose and starts to spin.
Since the belt drives both the alternator and the water pump, it matches the symptoms you’re describing.
