Greetings from Belgium everybody :).
I have been following this forum way before my Supra got delivered, but I finally managed to free up some time to register myself and provide all of you an introduction and what has already been going on with my Supra MKV.

I am going to divide it all over several posts (else it will be one huge first post):
* Introduction & getting the Supra
* Already driving it as she should + official supra presentation event
* Time for already engine mods

Brief car History
The first car I owned was at the age of 19: Toyota Celica T18 STi
After 4 years, I sold the car and bought a Nissan Skyline R33 GTS-T. Which was customized for drifting.
Unfortunately after a couple of years, I had an accident which totalled the car (rainy day, slick tires and there went the back of the car on the highway).
A few years went by and then it was time for my third sportscar (which I still own): a Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R.

My R33 GT-R
I already own this car now for around 5 years and keeping it in very mint condition

In 2016, I started joining the yearly GT-Driveout weekends of Wheeltorque.eu
The yearly weekends of driving always end at the track. So in 2016, I drove it on Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

Why I went for the Supra MKV
As the years passed, my R33 GT-R got older, needed more maintenance and sky-rocketed in value.
At the same time, my current company car was around 2.5 years old... so I was already looking out to buy a new one.

As next car, I wanted a car that could be used as a daily driver but at the same time could do a few track days a year (and drive it back home afterwards). Conclusion: Yes I went for the Supra as it looked that I got both these things (luxury inside, but still capable enough to handle on the track).

The day she arrived at the dealer
On the 6th of August 2019, the Supra finally arrived at the dealership (made a reservation in november 2018).
I got the last of the 75 that were foreseen in Belgium.

The long wait of the license plate
Unfortunately as it is Belgium... holiday period means crappy service from the government.
I had to wait untill the 28th of August to get my personalised license plates

But hell... was it worth the wait:

As said, delivery on the 28th of August... finally.
I was really really stressed during that last week, as I had a very good reason: it was time for my yearly GT-Driveout weekend and the GT-R had to be fixed (old car, parts break down)

The 2019 GT-Driveout
But thank god, on the 31st of August... I was able to drive the Supra MKV for the very first time what she was meant for.
Sport driving for an entire weekend and taking her to the race track.

My god, what a difference between the R33 GT-R and the Supra MKV. Sounds logic as there is 25 years in between the cars.
But it also meant that I could really compare a 90s supercar (yes with a manual) with a modern sportscar.
To be honoust: sorry for the haters on the internet, but the new Supra is far superior in each way... compared to a 90s Supercar.
And yes, my GT-R has an engine mod (410bhp), better and tweaked suspension, track brakes etcetera. The brakes on the MKV are not worthy for te track, but thank god for the aftermarket soon :)

But enough on how well the car drives and compares to older models (the day is now and we don't live anymore in the crazy 90s). I just let the pictures speak for itself. Every car owner on that event loved the way the Supra looks in real life and to quote them "it is a joy to look at when you drive behind and besides her".

And on the 1st of September , It was time to get her on the track of Dijon-Prenois.

4 days after delivery... and the poor girl had already so much 'abuse' :) :)

And one unfortunate thing happened on Sunday the 31st of August... due to stones hitting the supra from the car in front of me: Huge crack in the windshield + front bumper and hood received damage from the stones.
The windshiel is already fixed... but the paint damage isn't yet.

No worries, I hope to get it fixd by the end of November... when she also get her full PPF coating done

Official Supra presentation
When the car was delivered, the dealership already asked me if they could also use my supra to be part of their official presentation.
I said yes, because there were also some supras being delivered by Toyota Belgium... as well as a Toyota GT2000.

So there she was on the 5th of September (with her broken windshield and damage)... at the offical Supra presentation event.
Haha people can't blame me for not driving her as she was meant for (and again... it will be my daily car, shit happens and will happen again).
And apparently they had a 'fun time' to clean the car with all that track rubber on the sides :)

Bonjour Geert. Welcome to the Supra club. I have enjoyed the pictures you provided, especially the ones of your yellow Supra. I have a Red LE..(#935). Please keep us informed of your progress. Where do you live in Belgium? I had the pleasure of living in Waterloo for a year, and loved every minute of it.

Fast forward towards the 26th of September, where the people of CustomImportArts picked up my car at the dealership (because it stayed there to replace the windshield). And in the meantime, I was on business trip.

I already know the people of CustomImportArts for years... they tweaked/tuned my GT-R and doing the yearly maintenance for it.
So when I told them that they could use my Supra to test out the new platform and see what numbers they can get on it, they were excited to do this.

One thing is important to me: it is a daily driver, so tuning must be done for 98 octane. Not bulshitting around with trying 'to cheat' by using ethanol, 102 octane or other mixtures. In real life, it is pointless in Belgium :)

Actually, 3 companies teamed up together to get familiar with the new Supra. So before we start, already a big thanks to these guys to make it all happen:
* CustomImportArts, lead by Tom Van Dyck -> They got 20 years experience with tuning all sort of Japanese sportscars/Supercars... specialised in all GT-R models
* ST-Autosport, lead by Tonni Sneyers -> Fameous for all tuning of Toyota cars, and he received the official Toyota Supra MKV training
* ASD Performance, lead by Santino Pecorelli -> Well known company, specialised in tuning BMW & Porsches

Back to the engine tuning now.
Baseline of the car on the dyno:
* 354HP engine / 314 at the wheels
* 543NM torque engine / 481 at the wheels

First couple of days, they were getting familiar with the new platform.

28th of September
But on the 28th of September, they cracked it and started their first runs.
Mods: None, complete stock car, 98 octane fuel
Results:
28-sept.jpg

29th of September
Further figuring out the ECU.
Mods: None, complete stock car, 98 octane fuel

29-sept.jpg

30th of September
Further figuring out the ECU.
Mods: None, complete stock car, 98 octane fuel
Results:
30-sept.jpg

1st of October
Found some more deep-dive code in the ECU
Mods: None, complete stock car, 98 octane fuel
Results:
1-okt.jpg

2nd of October
Claims from other tuners were coming in that the above results could not be right, especially on 98 octane. So whats best to do... take the car to another dyno and prove it. Well the results were exactly the same :)
2-okt.jpg

By now, the limit of the flow of the front-kat was reached. Yes in Europe we got strict emission regulation. So time to install a customized downpipe to see how much difference it would give. At this stage they were already getting a whopping 484HP and 745NM torque
2-okt-2.jpg

And at the same time, they already started with the development on the first parts of their turbo upgrade kit:
2-okt-3.jpg

3rd of October
Further tuning after downpipe was installed
Mods: Downpipe, the rest still a complete stock car, 98 octane fuel
Results compared with the baseline:
3-okt.jpg

3-okt-2.jpg

3-okt-3.jpg

Conclusion
So the downpipe did not offer a lot more increase in horsepower, but the torque curve was way better... not dropping a lot as RPM increased
-> Having stil around 700NM of torque at 4500RPM.
They could have hit the 500HP number in case they increased the ignition temperature with 7-8 degrees. But as it is not their car, they keep it on the safe side. Also in case you fuel up with less good 98 octane, they want that the engine does not start causing problems.

But the Supra is really pushing already some big numbers with just a chip tune and downpipe (Stage1.5) on 98 octane fuel:
* 495HP and 754NM at the flywheel
* 440HP and 686NM at the wheels
Again, no piggyback system :)

Furthermore, I already test-drove the car when it had those numbers. And god damn, that thing just GOES.
Becoming a really tricky car already. When a little wet on the roads, the traction control even kicks in when in 4th gear and putting the padle down. Don't do this when safety systems are off :)

Next steps
There is still a particle filter in the middle of the exhaust system, which they now assume is the restricting factor. They are going to weld something of their own to replace that part.

Next week, they will further check on tuning, taking it one step at the time, seeing what difference certain upgrades provide.
And off course, the turbo upgrade Stage 2 will be next in the upcoming weeks.
The Supra is not the only project they got going on, but they felt that it was important to reach as fast as possible Stage 1... and I guess they did an awesome job in just one week time.

Great to see some more EU results with the particulate filter and everything. Still likely to be part of the restrictions but good results nevertheless! Looking forward to seeing how it all develops.

Another update as they went into figuring out more of the coding:
  • Currently at 510HP and 770NM torque on 98 octane
    • Still on just a downpipe and stock turbo
    • 300HP at 3000 RPM
11-okt-1.jpg

11-okt-2.jpg

They are now experiencing wheelspin in the beginning and the temperature limiting torque around 4600RPM.
Tomorrow trying to figure out why/where it limits and maybe squeeze some extra HP out of it

Awesome! I recall seeing your car on Facebook not that long ago. Glad to see you made it to the forums.

One of the A90 groups, they posted the dyno run from the shop that tuned your car.
In case you would remember which one (or in case you come across it), let me know :)
Always nice to know who is following the progress ;)
