Sadly Toyota is just a tight lip company in general. BMW on the other hand is definitely more forthcoming. They have already confirmed the start date for production and stated in their Z4 press release that we will see their production car in 2018. Toyota... crickets...

Another prime example: Toyota
Q: Is Lexus working on a LC-F?
A: We do no comment on future products.

BMW, here you go!

If BMW is showing in 2018, does that mean they will begin production in 2019? That's perfect for me.

Production was set to begin in September previously, but that was tentative according to my sources.

Perhaps it is November now, which more than likely means the MY will be 2020.

We are a week away, Toyota has been tight lipped about this for almost 4 years, why start spilling beans now when they can just wait 7 more days to blow everyone away (maybe) especially if it's the production version. Sort of like what Ford did with the new GT concept in 2015 when it stole the NSX spotlight.

I'm still thinking they will especially with all the new Gazoooooo Racing news/cars they've shared. Lexus debuting sportier cars + the new 'sporty' Camry; they have a lot buzz going around and rumors of a new Supra coming and them actually giving us one will only give them more attention. Just my point of view, that's the way I'd play my cards if I was Toyota...but I'm not ;)

Maybe Toyota saw all the fantastic renderings fans and magazines put up on the internet and felt compelled to go back to tweak a few things. :p

I just hope Toyota does not pull a Scion FRS on us, again.
The hype and expectations were so high that when the FRS finally showed up and was found to have a gutless engine:nono:, irrespective of its great handling, it was and is still perceived by many to be seriously underpowered.

I hope Toyota does not "give us" just enough power, as "they see it" and ignore what the enthusiasts are craving for:banghead:.

The second concern I have it that they could delay the reveal for so long:coffee: and the gestation period can become so prolonged that the "competition" may have already moved onto faster, better:drive: and more powerful and Toyota might end up playing a catch up game which is never easy. They have teased long enough.
As it is, we do not even know:dunno: what the competition is going to be, unknown as are the power, weight, price etc. of the ghostly Supra:what:.

Maybe Toyota wants to hold back until Chicago to mark when the MK4 debuted? :dunno:

Ford actually teased the new GT twice, but no one believed them. :p

This would be the most painful irony on my part. Travel all the way to Japan, only for the car to actually be released in the very city I live in...

Speaking of which, I should start packing. I'll make a thread where I update you guys with photos and video of the event/trip.

I don't believe any past Supra has ever debuted at Tokyo before. Anyone here old enough to recall which auto show was chosen for the MKI-III? :dunno:

I hope you get to see it in person at TMS Guff. Just want to say thanks in advance for the live feed and updates. Fingers crossed we get something.

Keep your receipts and invoices and forward them to Toyota for reimbursement in case they decide not to give us anything special :D

Good luck with that. I think we're better off just starting a GoFundMe for @Guff.
