So the manual states to not rev over 4500 RPM for the first 1200 then to gradually increase the max speed you go. Also aware of breaking in the brakes.

But are there other things I should know about breaking-in? More notably, should I avoid using Sport Mode or manual mode until the car is broken in?

Any help is appreciated.

Biggest thing is to avoid traveling at constant speed/rpm for extended periods of time. Be sure to vary rpm. Sport mode and manual mode are fine.

Heh, I tried really hard to drive carefully. I made it about 150 miles and then my buddy tried to pull on me so I stepped on it. Car is fine.

People have been beating on their cars so I wouldn’t stress.

I don't think break in period even matters to much now you already tuned and put a downpipe on it. just send it

@Ryco does your car have the little ambor line before redline?

Does the car have a different rev limit for the break in period?

they are all a orange bar between 6500 and 7000 RPM. No difference in rev limit like the 2020 vette

I was literally at the track the day after I got mine. Modern cars don't need a break in. Oil analysis came back with lower than average metals in the oil.
BMW is pretty strict about this on their cars. German folks have learned to rely on their directions...for good reason. That said, HIT IT!

1,200 has to be the most excessive recommendation I have ever heard of from a manufacturer. I'm going to take it easy for the first 500, change to 5W30, then start tracking it.

Not sure about supra but on s2000, honda used put extra molybdenum to help break in the engine. Hence, the best practice was to follow owner's manual - check oil level regularly and change at 3,500 miles first time. below link was the discussion back in the days.

Supra Owner's manual indicates that take easy on engine until 1,200 miles and for brake, 300 miles. - seems like they want you to bed the brake which is typical process for new brakes although it would be much different procedure for track use.

first maintenance is 5,000 i believe. So I will keep my eye on oil level until 5,000 miles.

I think about the metal flakes in the oil during break-in. Others have confirmed their presence during the first oil-change. I'm at the 1000 mile mark and seriously thinking about changing at 1200.

I changed mine at 1600 miles and there was the typical break-in material floating around in the oil (higher than normal amounts of Silicon, Iron, Aluminum, etc..).
