Note: We are NO LONGER Associated with GoodSpeed Performance Lab. We no longer do any work with them and are now independant. If you are looking for a shop locally most of our tuning is done out of Harrison Performance & Tuning in Tucson Arizona. I have had a number of people contact GoodSpeed for tuning thinking they were getting our work and they found out later it wasn't. Sorry for the confusion. This post is a fair bit old.

Factory Locked DME's / Manufacture updated DME's
We are now able to unlock factory locked / dealer locked DME's. This will allow you to flash your car at home after we bench flash your factory DME. This will require shipment of your DME to our facility. We will update this posting with information as this progresses.

A little preface before I get into my formal review of GoodSpeedā€™s Ecutek tune. Late September I was running JB4. Late November switched to BM3. and mid March I switched to Ecutek. I know of Ecutek from my previous involvement with the Nissan Community and the reputation that surrounds them is unprecedented.

I began conversing with Marin, the Master Tuner at GoodSpeed Performance, sometime in February. I quickly realized this man knew what he was talking about, hearing about the hundreds if not thousands of dyno pulls and the amount of time and money that had been invested into their tunes intrigued me. It had me excited not going to lieā€¦ but there was a problem. Ecutek still wasnā€™t released, no worries though Marin continued to push the shop car searching for the limits, all of this while continually providing excellent customer service (even though I wasnā€™t a customer yetā€¦) Finally!!! Ecutek was kind of released still in Beta of course but I was able to get this tune on my Supra and let me tell you.

The First drive (2am) E30 high trq map and let me tell ya itā€™s not a joke and high trq isnā€™t just a namesake. Stepping on the gas Instantly losing traction ( OEM Tires) yes we all lose traction gear after gear spinning. Where did all this power come from?! I ran an 11.4 with a BM3 e30 tune. I felt like I was pretty quick, but this Ecutek tune took it to another level. Instant smile on my face and almost needed a change of pants after that first pull. Yet it still drove like stock, Linear power, no on/off switch being able to feather the throttle just right to maximize all this newfound power felt great. Not to mention Marin was waiting for me to get done so he knew everything went well. Everyday as I drive the car (when I could drive the car before all this craziness started happening) I canā€™t believe how much faster it feels over what BM3 provided me, and I thought that felt like a rocketship.

Many people are going to be offering Ecutek tunes for our Supras but I am confident that I chose the right shop for this platform. Theyā€™re invested not only from a financial standpoint but they really put time and effort to make sure theyā€™re providing excellent customer service. Marin at GoodSpeed performance I know has toiled away at this platform putting sweat blood and a whole lotta time into it. All while still answering any and every question Iā€™ve had, giving me the confidence Iā€™ve made a very wise choice for my Ecutek Tuner.

TLDR: Ecutek provides me with more power, smoother delivery, biggest smile Iā€™ve had while driving and when raceroms come out, oh my!

Awesome review man, hitting all the key points that I was interested in hearing. Im going this route also.

Right now one of my gripes with bm3 ots 93 is the tq just slams all in immediately. Makes the extra power feels useless. Can you expand On the tq delivery being OEM like? That stood out for me so much! Thanks

Were you on OTS tune with BM3?

It is currently not in the short term feature list that the are trying to get into RaceROM in the early phases. Early on they want to get RaceROM enhanced logging, map switching, and then some custom maps / flex fuel before the fun tidbits get added in. So we are stil a bit out before the extra features like that get implimented. But its possible that it will be added in the later phases. I have requested this feature though as it pretty damn awesome on the GT-R platform!

Well even in stock form tq hits pretty hard, with this tune it comes on very strong and you can and will spin but its so much more manageable to me. I'm also on the high tq version so i did it to my self lol. But as you can see on the dyno graphs trq hits early but its not an on off switch just feels so linear. I can look down and boom in at 100mph ā€ā™‚ how'd i get there?!

I am interested for sure! Just a little hesitant with the Beta testing. I might have to wait a little longer.

I know the original post mentioned free core updates to the maps until May 2020 (when beta closes), but how will the support be after May 2020? Will the maps get periodic updates? Or will the maps be untouched from then on?

Depending on how things go by in May we may or may not extend free updates. For things that we find that are for safety we will be updating past that point. And likely updating core changes for months after May.If we come out with new features say a year down the road then we reserve the right to charge an update fee down theroad. This is mostly mentioned as some people will flash their car and we will ask for a revision and I have had people take over a year to get a log back for a revision in the past. This is the main reason a date is mentioned.

We are currently looking for some users to help us out on testing stage 1 maps at an additional discount. This would save us the effort of reverting our car back to stage 1 for making changes. If you are planning on going stage 2 soon we may still be able to work something out. Please send us a message if you would like some additional details.

Do you still tune under the bm3 platform?
Im weighing some options out and if I can skip having to pay for ecutek and a tune I will. Can the opā€™s results be duplicated with bm3 and tune from YOU? The bm3 ots tune is crappy and if you can tune my car under bm3 with a custom file and achieve OPs results then Im in for that. No need to pay for 2 tuning platforms... unless there is some proprietary about ecutek that helped achieve it? Thanks

We actually spent weeks developing tunes in BM3. However the software really lacks from a profesional stand point, and more importantly as of current (I verified before making this point) is missing a significant number of tables that we use to poduce power in an "OEM way". We do not lie to the transmisison, we dont lie about the boost we are producing. I just gave it a quick glance a quite a few torque limiters, fueling paramters, transmission flags, boost control, and much more is still missing from BM3. All of which EcuTek has managed to source within a few weeks of release. If at some point they catch up or if we decide down the road to maybe see if we can import a reduced power map that we built from scratch outside of BM3 we currently are no longer tuning A90's on BM3. The driveability and reliability was just not up to our standards at this time.

TL;DR is that we could produce the power. But we would have to do it in a non traditional way that gives lower quality driveability and more potential for drive train errors than we feel comfrotable with. This is nothing personal against BM3 and we do support them with other platforms.
