Keep in mind, this is my so called “perfect” Supra.
There are 4 major & 2 minor things. Not gonna go indepth.
4 Major:
  1. Weight - Supra isn’t boat like some other sports car... but that shouldn’t be an excuse to add weight. They need fully loaded 3.0L ver minimum of 100kg (220lbs) lighter than current ver.
  2. MT Option - Current AT (ZF) isn’t bad... but not enough. Need like 7sp MT option.
  3. Suspension - Design of Supra suspension is great... but could of engineered it better.
  4. Limited Edi - No matter how you look at it, Supra is unique car. It shouldn’t compete to mass production. Within that, making more limited Edi will truly shine the name Supra. Not talking about A91 or Launch Edi or GT4. What if GR made Supra like Porsche R models. Whole purpose is shed weight, MT & driver focus. Don’t have pointless safety gizmo. Hell, if they made it & let’s say priced at +$75k, ppl will still buy it.
2 Minor:
  1. Interior - Quality control need to be done plus better. Like gauge could of used better design & use the whole gauge area better.
  2. Exterior - Not knocking of fake vents, cuz it prob work (if you try), but I like it simple design w less stuff.
If they want to compete w Porsche, they need to look into what make Porsche plus other brands that make worth every penny.
I agree with list. I think every owner can agree on that list. For the weight it is technically lighter than mk4 which might have been their initial goal. The gauge area for me is fine I just wish the HUD had RPM info. For the interior I just want more carbon fiber.

whats funny is that making it lighter means removing all of the daily driver comforts (dare i say the BMW benefits): active dampers, active exhaust, adaptive cruise control, sound damping, mass dampers, smaller wheels, heated seats, electronic seats, auto dimming mirrors, HUD, better/lower springs (manufactures nowadays assume aftermarket with handle it)

^ thats basically i4 version with aftermarket upgrades

You also forgot remote start as a 3rd minor.

he is Japanese and just upset the Supra wasn’t made by Japan... that’s all.. he sounds like a hater...
Yeah, it's weird too because Tsuchiya san liked the A90
In the Kobayashi video, the interviewer also mentions that Smokey Nagata doesn't like the new Supra too...

It is less about who does/does not like it and more about constructive feedback.

They are blindly hating the car because of the BMW parts. I respect that opinion but where are their NSX, RC-F, LC500, or LS500 tunes/builds? They are ignoring in-house Japanese cars while hating on the Supra for not being 100% Japanese, they can't have it both ways.

Well it's built by BMW in their Austria plant with all their parts.

I don't understand what your point is here and how it relates to what I said, especially since I already address the BMW parts in my comment.

Also, Magna Steyr isn't owned by BMW

I respect Kobayashi's feedback and wouldn't discredit it at all, nor Smokey Nagata. These guys have been building cars (iconic for that matter) for a long time. I doubt you can honestly say they are blindly hating on it.

He said the car can't battle at all, it can't brake, turn, and is slow.

It brakes just as well as the GTR and there are many aftermarket BBKs available.
Even if we consider the most critical of all reviews of the Supra's handling, then an alignment and tires are easy fixes - also you can go one step further and put in a mechanical lsd.
It is also just as quick as the RC-F from the factory with a lot more on the table with a tune.

I find it so ironic that as a famous tuner he only looks at the car in its stock form as whether or not it can battle. I am saying he is blindly hating it because his head is so far stuck up his butt about it being a BMW he can't see the aftermarket potential. There isn't a single car that is perfect from the factory so I don't know what he was expecting - especially since his entire business is built on that principle.

He has a lot more to back up his statements.

I think he has a lot more to back up his statements.
But that isn’t what he communicated, he is a big boy who can use his words just like everyone else.

I don’t know what pictures of him modifying his Supra after this interview that happened back in January have to do with anything. Or pictures of cars that are vastly more expensive.

I highlighted it in red. You don't think he does see the aftermarket potential, hence the pictures of his Supra modified? Remember that interview was back in Jan and these pics are from a month ago. When someone has the comfort of driving other cars especially vastly more expensive one, it helps pinpoint the issues.

Yes. I don’t know how else I would interpret this statement at 7:00 in the video posted, “I mean look at new Supra. It’s not good at all. Honestly, I can’t do anything for this car.

You could say his statement was hyperbolic or he is speaking out of frustration/disappointment but this is a professional interview and not over a beer with buddies.

The more expensive cars definitely help find what the car is lacking and what can make it better, but based off what he has said above, he isn’t in the mindset to make the car better.

Understanding japanese that's the same feeling I got. Surprised he didnt just up and sell the car right after that interview. Glad to see he's making changes though.

Yeah his body language definitely suggests he is disappointed in the car and regrets his purchase. Maybe he will be a little more positive about it after tuning and modifying it.
