Been a member for just short time but you seem to be the main guy everyone go to for the facts on the new Supra and they trust your answers. Who are you? Why are you so connected? Where are you located? Share what you can, just curious....

We're very lucky to have him IMO because while a few of us also are occasionally getting info from various inside sources, we aren't at liberty to discuss it on the internet without getting into big trouble :p.

As with anything though, take everything with a grain of salt. Things are always changing on the development side so nothing is set in stone until the big men at Toyota say so.

either that, or he's having the best troll of his life

I'm going with the more optimistic approach haha.
That or a really good guesser. Told us weeks in advance that the car should be 380hp+; later learned its being reported at 385hp. Also said 2 weeks before TMS that nothing will be unveiled.

haha, well I'm NOTHING special that's for sure... I also shouldn't be sharing about half the stuff I say (as Guff noted), but at the same time it's still hear-say on a public level even though I know who its from and that it's credible. It's also hidden enough on here to not make a big splash.

I think if someone was trolling they would be far better served with something more interesting versus some unreleased car that a lot of people have clearly expressed a distaste for (the purists). that said, I dont think people should neccessarily depend on me because the details of the car are always changing and half the time when I'm told something it's already outdated.

[redacted]... The only reason I am privy to any of this development stuff however is just because I get to be around certain engineers and those that know them (junior engineers, friends, etc). I'm also not in on all Toyota stuff; it's just here and there and thankfully I'm able to see some of it.

(sorry if that killed the mystique of my origins, but I often find the reality of things to be fairly mundane at the end of the day.)

My gut is you're legit. But anytime you report something disappointing I pray you're a fake. :D

You could easily be a fake, people fake an awful lot more just for that internet cool guy status. Gun forums, car forums, watch forums  you name it.

Nothing you've said about the car has been a true leak per se, and nothing really that mind blowing or anything confirmed. As said above, a lot of it could be just good guessing based on safe assumptions. We know it's Toyota, so it's not going to be some monster 600horsepower car and will probably going to be a little disappointing on the specs. We know it's being built alongside Z4 in a european factory and will probably have a bunch of BMW parts. We know all of what the guys from Calty told us in the FT1 interviews.

But again we don't actually know if any of the guesses are good since Toyota has been so tight lipped.

Essentially every news article that's come out after the FT1 interviews were done were all just speculation, even from relatively decent outlets. I want to say it was autonews that was reporting something like five (5) different engines for this car, hybrid setups, all sorts of crazy shit, as if it was fact, going to happen. The only real news we've had is the spy pics, which we've been looking at for years now.

agreed, there's really no way to confirm much of anything. you have to pretty much just take whats said, balance it, and try to find what's likely vs not (probabilities).

but yeah, the only reason I'm able to leak what I do is because there's the element of doubt and because I dont reveal my identity (this is ideal for me as originally I wasn't comfortable saying much of anything). I also try not to leak anything that's super close to the source or that's very detailed. there are things I know about the car, as does Guff and a few others here, that I wont post because they are detail oriented and only known by a very select few, and any time you feed information that guarded you risk Toyota investigating and finding the source.

[sidenote: deleted the explanation of what I do for a living because it was a little too revealing for comfort. anyone that cared probably saw it anyways.]

@A70TTR Are you actually based in Japan? I was very confused when you didn't talk from a Japanese market perspective in a previous thread. This vehicle is being made for the global market, so talking purely from a USA market stand point on a public forum is moot. Had anyone known anything about Toyota's secrets while living in Japan they would have known about the local market vehicles and cross overs between Toyota and Lexus divisions.

Just want to say I hope I don't come across as having any hate towards you or the awesome information you have provided us so far.. I just don't know how deep your knowledge really is and if I could trust what you were saying.

I put down Japan more to throw people off, but you pretty much just ended that lol... I'm USA based and travel to both Europe and Japan however.
