yeah, can you imagine what the GRMN car might be capable of... I heard it may actually be north of 385hp with a few CF body parts.

what if we see a ~2700lb car with 400hp? O___O
The different trims being released together or is the GRMN launching at a later timeframe?

while these specs are very promising I'll hold my breath...not sure even if 2800 is feasible for a car with a TT inline 6 setup as if I'm not mistaken that would make it the lightest production chassis to feature one...plus the GT86 which doesn't have any sound insulation, has a pretty much all plastic interior and a na 2.0 4 banger yet it still pushes nearly 2800 lbs.

I have more of the details on how it was done, the exact weight, as well as dimensions, but I can't give out that information.

It very much sits at under 2900 though, partly because the car is actually pretty damn small. Smaller than I thought it was.

along with the lack of backseats, that sort of confirms the early speculation that the wheelbase was going to be very short, even shorter than the GT86's....will be interesting to see how this affects driving dynamics

If its going to smaller than why did the press release say it will be a midsize sports car? :what:

2. Sports vehicle

- The companies agreed to set-up a feasibility study to define a joint platform concept for a mid-size sports vehicle that is to be completed by the end of 2013. The two companies aim to combine each other’s technology and knowledge at a high level to maximise customer satisfaction. Both companies are to share the vision to further collaborate in the field of sports vehicle development.

But weren't we told that the platform for the Z4 already existed and that Toyota joined up afterwards?

It's pretty crazy... Now it makes sense how it's able to keep up with the Cayman GTS.

That GRMN car is gonna be insane.
So it's not the GRMN spec car that's 10s faster than Z4, but the standard "340hp 2900lbs" car????

If so... far out

GRMN = spec B? 385+ hp?
Standard = spec A (340hp)?

Or would a GRMN spec sit higher than B?

I'm lost as well. So will the US base model also be 340hp, and than with a more powerful 385hp version?

When someone on the inside says "imagine XYZ", I am very much going to read into that. :p

Good points. From what I gather, the US will be getting the 340hp car first (the standard car), then the GRMN version (likely branded TRD here) later on.

And yes, it's the 340hp car that lapped the Z4 by ten secs lol

What I'm confused about now is how the Spec-A and Spec-B cars roll out. Sounds as though it's just going to be Spec-B as the base for both 6cyl variants with Spec-A just being used for testing? Not sure.
