To each their own. I think the MK4 looks fu*king sweet. I love how you pass off your opinions as fact; so I guess I'll do the same. I think your love as a Nissan fanboy might be showing a little. ;)
You don't need to be a Nissan fanboy or, Mazda fanboy, or Honda fanboy, or a NASA engineer, or etc... to know that the MKIV Supra was the ugly duckling of the 90's Japanese sports cars.

Read the paragraph starting with "But some aspects of the body shape simply fall flat." (Road&Track March 1993):
https://i2.wp.com/mkiv.com/publications/road&track/3_93/rt393_04.jpg

However, im sure the Toyota fanboys will think otherwise....right?

I'm not a Nissan fanboy...actually, I purchased a brand new 350Z back in 2004 and sold it a year later because I was disgusted with the overall engineering of the car. Coming from a 300ZX, my expectations were somewhat "higher" than others...and so I sold the 350Z because I felt Nissan did a shitty job with the 350Z. The 370Z has gotten better, but still no comparison to the 300ZX in terms of overall engineering and design. That is why I got back into a 300ZX a few months ago...and until Nissan does a better job with the next Z, I will continue to consider the 300ZX the best Z ever made.

As for the GTR....lol....you don't need to be a Nissan fanboy to appreciate it's world class engineering and know it is truly Japan's supercar. Just ask all the MKIV Supra fanboys/owners who dropped their cars for an R35.

The '93 Supra is actually my dream car for performance and looks . My list also has as number 2 the nissan silvia s15 and i have become quite fond of the new '17 model camaro. Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder i guess , performance is another story .

The MKIV Supra is not a pretty car, it really isn’t. Timeless design??? The RX-7, NSX, and 300ZX are pretty cars with timeless designs....the MKIV Supra isn’t. It's f@#king fast...yes....pretty?...no! This has been mentioned time and time again in publications. Does it make it a bad car? No. Heck, Lamborghini even borrowed the headlights from the 300ZX on their Diablo because Nissan did such a beautiful design....true story. By the way, I am not a F&F fan...that is one reason I never purchased a MKIV Supra....actually for that exact reason.

Obviously I'm going to disagree with you; many others will as well.

When I take my ugly duckling out I always get comments like "sweet car", "beautiful car man", and "that is a sexy car bro". People are also shocked to know that it is a 1993. Everyone think its a brand new car. I lost count of how many people asking me if it was for sale. I also get tons of notes left on the windshield with peoples contact info just encase I was looking to put her on the market.

When I use to go to meets with my friend Diego who owns a 300ZX no one gave a sh*t about his car. They would just walk right pass it. People would come over to check out my ugly duckling and asking to take photos, sit in it, and if it was for sale. This use to piss him off lol. For what its worth he also thought my car was ugly. I felt the same about his car too. But hey, to each his or her own.

Again, seems like you don't quite understand the concept of opinion vs fact. Right, one writer's opinion must mean its true and that everyone else in the world feels the same way.

Last time I visited Supraforums the general consensus on the R35 was very fast, but also very ugly. I'm not trying to take away from its performance, no doubt it has some impressive numbers. And like the poster above said, if you love it so much than why don't you go and get one and just forget about this failure MK5?

You guys need to think of the MKIV Supra in STOCK form, not the 1000hp monster they become in the aftermarket. It will 100% be better than a stock MKIV. Will it be as capable? That is an entirely different question, and frankly Toyota could care less about comparing with modified MKIV's. Close to 400HP with a lighter weight and newer suspension technology will make it a better car to drive. But will it live up to the legacy? No because WE have created the legacy of the supra. It has had 20 years to bake. Most people do not think of the MKIV in its stock 320HP 3400LB form. They think of it as their "buddy's buddy" Supra with 1000HP and will eat anything. And of course this car will not compare to those expectations. But I think the reality is, it WILL be a better car.

And this comes from an MKIV owner.
Well said!

Yup, this!

To lighten things up I found something that makes the R35 look sexy.

I literally cant drive my Supra without getting insane amounts of comments on the way it looks. how "beautiful" or "sexy" it is. I have friends in my group of car guys that have FD's, 300zxs' R32's and R33's. The only other one that gets close to the amounts of comments based on looks alone is the FD.

The supra is a beautiful car in many peoples eyes and I have heard those exact words. This is a "timeless" design. Personally I Think the FD holds the title for most beautiful timeless 90's JDM

I use to visit the Z forums back in the day. They were always talking smack about MK4 calling it too round, plain, ugly, fat and etc. I figured they were just jealous.

People didn’t give a shit about the 300ZX because everyone wants a MKIV Supra....that's no secret...not because its a beautiful car, because it’s a capable car. Don’t think for a second this is only comparing a MKIV Supra to a 300ZX....this is the case with a MKIV to any other sportscar....BECAUSE ITS CAPABLE!!!...not because its a beautiful car. This is the problem with Supra owners, they believe their cars are beautiful because of their 3foot high spoilers. They are “beautiful” because they are CAPABLE....period. Look at the R34 GTR, you think if a R34 was sitting next to a MKIV Supra, people would gawk at the R34 because it’s a prettier car??? No! They would gawk at it and compliment the R34 owner because they know it’s CAPABILITIES!

...and yes, whether you own a MKIV Supra or not, and whether you like it or not, the MKIV was the ugly duckling of the 90’s Japanese sports cars....no matter how many ricers compliment you at gas station and race wars.

No one give a shit about the 300ZX because its dated, ugly, and a dime in a dozen. Why don't you do yourself and all of us a favor and stop trolling already. No one here gives a shit about your "timeless" Nissan... Its your opinion..., you may want to try to google its meaning. Move on already dude...

You may want to reread both my previous post as well as mkivalex's. Look, I'm not going to keep going back and forth with you on this. I think its good looking car. You seem to disagree and that is fine. Different storks for different folks. Looks are subjective and your opinion isn't fact. Lastly my car is wingless. ;)

Troll what you dodo? It’s an FT-1 forum! I could give two shits about you or your Supra! Your just being to sensitive because no one has ever told you the truth about your car.

As for the 300ZX being dated, I could care less. 10yrs from now when your swapping Tacoma transmissions and Lexus rear ends into your MKIV Supra, i will still have a plentiful supply of OEM Nissan parts for my Z...thank you Nissan Heritage Program.

Btw, your avatar says it all...lol.

The last several posts took a sharp dive....all because of the subject of comparing a MKIV to the FT-1. We don’t even have concrete info on the FT-1 and look at how defensive MKIV owners got....your telling me if Toyota calls the FT-1 a “Supra” they won’t be shooting themselves in the foot? I would HATE to be the MKV Supra owner justifying my car’s performance to a MKIV Supra owner (for obvious reasons).

Do you know how to read? I don't own a Supra. Look under cars: it says Ford. Last time I checked Ford didn't make a Supra...

I'm a Toy Story fan, and your avatar clearly screams Nissan fan boy... ;)

Me and mkivalex are the only two MKIV owners that recently replied. How did we get defensive? If anything we just refuted your overgeneralize comments from our own personal experiences. I don't know, simply because we don't really know anything concrete like you said. But from what our forum's inside has said: base model/EU model at 340hp and 2,900lbs and top spec/US version at 385hp and 3,000lbs doesn't sound to bad in my book.
