My SA said don’t put one in (I did anyway), saying that Toyota’s official line is that the CAI causes damage with too much air causing the air fuel ratio to be too lean. Of course, this makes no sense. My SA also said “any performance mod” will be blamed for whatever might go wrong down the line.

That's not how that works. They wouldn't try to deny a warranty claim for an engine issue if you put springs on your car but if something happens to your shocks, you better believe it won't be covered. Same with a CAI. I assume if they could come up with a strong string of BS of how CAI caused an engine failure, they'd fight you over it.

I understand that....I'm just replying to the fact that 2 people supposedly got their warranties voided because of CAI. Not sure he meant if all warranties in general, but it was vague to begin with therefore my post

They don’t even have to fight you, they would just flat out deny the claim. It would be up to the owner to prove that a CAI wouldn’t cause an engine failure in court vs Toyota’s lawyers on retainer

No warranty is ever "voided". That's the wrong wording.
Warranty claims can be denied because of modifications.
Cars will be "flagged" modded by service techs at the dealership so if you go in later with engine problems, they'll say it's because of the CAI and your claim will be denied. your shocks will still be covered of course, and vice versa if you have lowering springs, it won't affect your engine warranty.
Then there's the Magnussen Moss Warranty Act. Well, it'll cost you a lot more in lawyer fees than any repair will cost, so that won't work either.

Long story short, if you don't want to, or can't afford to pay for repairs, DON'T MOD YOUR CAR!

Um.. disagree. I'm entitled to the warranty based on the purchase. If one wants to take away my warranty entitlement then they have to prove that my mod is the cause of the issue. Not the other way around.
