I would not let this go, Toyota should replace it. I had similar looking crack in my then brand new BMW E85 Z4 rear brake light and made the mistake of thinking it was nothing. My original plan was to put some over lay on top of the taillights so that things like these wont happen since the tail light sticks out from the back. I dont want to do it yet because I was waiting for "my new ones"
I dont want to "put a band-aid" over a problem without getting it fixed or replaced..
I don't think they will sell it like that, it may take a long time to get the parts, so they will sit on that one till new tail lights come in.That's very shady!

Or maybe they want to use it as a demo.
Hopefully it was to get you back on the road with minimal downtime and they'll keep the car that had the swap in the back until a new tail light comes in. It's been over a year since it's release, they should easily have replacement body parts in stock by now.tell me about it... It would really suck for the owner/New owner of the supra getting those taillights.. That's why i was surprised that they said they will get it done within one day. (without ordering parts).
We do things like that all the time at my dealer. These cars sit so it’s better to get you on your way and order parts for the stock unit. They did you a courtesy. Nothing shady there. Also don’t see it as the dealer didn’t want to help you. Toyota must approve any cosmetic issues or the dealer will not be reimbursed.
Looks nice, what did you use to make the overlay?just to make sure. and if anything else happens, this was my original plan, and i was finally able to do it after they replaced my taillights. a matte black top over lay on my taillights
