I think all complaints should hold off until after the Geneva show when Toyota releases the car. Lets hope they release exact details about it and not general facts like 'the car is powered by a 6Cyl turbo engine putting power north of 320HP/330TQ' with no confirmation of it being an inline or V6 configuration. I hope they show the interior as well.
Yeah the JDM fanboys are flipping out already. Lol

If it's auto only they will easily lose 1/3 of possible future sales. With it only being a 2 seater that's another 1/3 sales gone.
I'm not really fussed with the power claim from that mag but I'm losing hope.

Looks like I'll be shopping for a manual M2 aswell.

I think 30% sales loss is too high....overall % of cars that come in manual I believe is less than 10% and dropping...Anyway this along only being a two seater, would have been areas seriously discussed reviewed and vetted before they decided to move forward with the car...

Maybe 10% of overall cars are manual. But on a specialty car like this. I would estimate 30-40% manual. But I wouldn't estimate the same amount of sales loss. I would buy this in a manual if offered. But if it only comes it auto, I'm not ruling it out based on that alone. But some will for sure

Having only 2 seats would have me thinking more about my purchase than a good auto

I'd rather go with a Lotus if it's not offered with a manual. Technically there's more Toyota in those than in the new Supra, depending on how you count... ;-)
Two seats for a week-end car is a non-issue to me.

I don't think the lose of backseats are that a big of a deal. When polled, only about 10% said they would not buy if it were a 2 seater.

However, the manual part seems to be the bigger issue. Roughly half of voters said they would be out if a manual was not offered.

The poll was done on this forum so it is not a perfectly valid sample from a statistical standpoint. People here ( me too) are car enthusiasts that searched for the next supra on the internet to find this forum , and naturally these people traditionally like the manual more . The loss of the backseats though will impact the most people that want a fast car that can be daily driven and don't care that this car is a supra , this group of people is far larger and often richer than most car enthusiast crowd . I am not saying toyota should cater to those people needs only but if we are being exact here the supra was from the start a 4 seater and GT car period .

Of course the poll is not prefect or the best way to look at the bigger pool of potential buyers, but still better than making up numbers out of thin air. The Corvette does just fine; when it comes to the whole 2 seater vs 2+2...

Personally I'm more upset about the lack of a manual vs some tiny cramp backseats thats never going to be used.

I don't think they are going to lose that much sales just because its a 2 seater. Interesting fact, in just 3 years the FD out sold the MKIV. I think we should look at the overall package. If its styled nicely, lightweight, decent to good power, more than one transmission choice, and priced reasonable than I think it will do just fine. :)

I know it’s probably highly unlikely but they could do what the fd rx7 did.

The FD's backseats are a joke. My friend did the conversion and just for fun I tried it out. I'm 5'5 and my head was bowing a little and I was still touching the headliner. Also there was zero legroom when the front seats are returned to the normal position.

JZA80 seats are also a joke. Seat in normal positon (I'm only 6'0") and there's be maybe 40mm (1.57" for you Americans :p) of room between rear seat cushion and back of the front seat.

The GT86/FRS was far better (I had one)

A61 had the only slightly useful rear seats of any Supra :p
