Agreed on both accounts. It would mean a sharp increase in potential and it is wishful thinking. :p
In any case, I think Toyota management is going to need to see strong sales of the plain Jane MKV in the first 2 years or the GRMN version is toast.
OK, here's how I reached the $120K figure:
The base Toyota 86 went for $25K. The GRMN 86 sold for $54K and they only made 100 of them. For the $30K premium you received new wheels and tires, upgraded calipers and rotors, tuned suspension, intake, exhaust, ECU tuning, carbon fiber hood, new...
To be fair, @A70TTR didn't like or comment on my $120K price estimate. I based the MSRP upon my experience in (and mostly out of) the automotive industry. No more. I have no super seekrit information.
One tiny grain of salt...
Sure winning awards always looks good on a resume, but IMHO the judges at Ward's are a bit too enamored with the latest in technology, advanced manufacturing processes and emissions/fuel economy. Performance, robustness and longevity... not so much. If you need an...
If the GRMN Supra is to be a true God Killer (the kind of car that would make @PerformanceSound toss his Viagra prescription)... close-ratio manual/DCT, upgraded brakes, diff, suspension... lightweight composite components... lightweight racing interior... improved aero package... and toss in a...
That's the problem, they obviously do care. A lot. Not caring is how you treat the guy who shows up to potluck with macaroni salad. The MKV is being treated like it showed up with a lightly grilled possum.
What went through my head watching that...
"Hey a mountain. Is that Mt. Fuji? Hey a city... no wait. Oh it's Fuji Speedway. Headlights..."
SUPRA IS BACK. End Clip.
"WTF!?"
PerformanceSound reminds of that kid in school who went around ranting about how much he hated this one girl. Hated her, her stupid clothes, her stupid hair, and her stupid stuck-up friends. Then someone slipped him a note saying she liked him...
It's been true Alpha love ever since. :p

Thanks for sharing. I actually don't pay attention to the marketing strategy around cars. It's mostly the same recycled crap about "heritage" and "racing DNA". As far as the great marketing for Demon goes... I missed that as well. I remember the debut though. The burnout was cool. Could have...
OK. So we should see the first YouTube clips up by about 10:30ish and by 10:45 the comments section will look like:

THIS IS NOT A SUPRA!!! I used to race the Supra in Need For Speed for hours when I was 9. This was my DREAM CAR! Now they've ruined my childhood. Worse...
Yep, sensors for the driver assistance package. Parking assist has four and the full driver assistance has eight. It's an off the shelf unit made by Bosch. Car makers have little discretion over where the sensors can be located.
For me, the GRMN alpha car is a non-issue. They're going to come in at a pricepoint (and of such limited quantity) the only place they'll exist is the internet, Dubai, and that one annoying dentist I see at Cars n Coffee. Not my garage.
