Well cars are getting more technologically advanced, safe, and reliable. Coupled with inflation, of course it'll go up. Now there in lies the responsibility for us as consumers to curb our desire for instant gratification and new toys. Keep your car longer, or buy a better car used.

Honestly, having old tech (left over) might not be so bad. It could result in a lower cost for the vehicle.

Well clearly that isn't the future

The future is hybrid and electric, petrol is on its way out.
