I think that's what I was experiencing a few times. I was already hard on the brakes but the pedal felt weird, almost crunchy, and when I pressed harder out of desperation there was more there.
Sounds very similar to Ice Mode that happens on C7 Corvettes (maybe prior gens too, but have never invoked on my C8). Think late brake, HARD and fast stab on the brakes -- the pedal moves a bit and gets hard like stepping on a block of wood and you have maybe 50-60% of the anticipated brake...
Tire wear on my C8 hasn't been a meaningful issue; less wear than the C7Z on the same tire. Brake pads I only get 2 days or 10-12x sessions before they're completely cooked, though. I've been buying OEM take-offs for $150 from the boomers that swap them for low dust ceramic pads so it's been...
I track the hell out of both:
Had all 3 for a while but sold the Supra (to Toyota PE Motorsports).
Zero issues with any of them. Biggest difference is the Corvettes are much harder on consumables so running costs are considerably higher.
The Z06 is an absolute monster --...
Exclusivity...
Referring to "exclusivity" in the context of any mass produced product -- and it actually being a tangible factor on whether or not you would own it -- is the epitome of S tier frail ego bullshit. :catfight:
It's a car and an experience, not an identity.
It's gonna be a bad mafaka. Twin turbo FPC, active aero. Boomers are going to freak when they learn you lose the frunk due to the additional heat exchangers.
OT: Were you running 0w-40 or 15w-50 in the ZL1?
And FWIW I'm shocked by your oil temps in the Supra. I ran 20 min sessions in 90° heat and humidity and never saw higher than 260ish.
It's common knowledge the OEM C7 GS/Z06 wheels have cracking issues. There's been attempts at pushing a class action suit for years, unsuccessfully.. They're ugly, heavy and have limited tire options anyway, so the first thing anyone should do is be an adult about it and get aftermarket wheels.
You mean C6 Z06? The LS7 valve drop problem is real, unfortunately. However, to fix/upgrade the heads is a relatively easy job in the grand scheme. The LS stuff is like Legos; heads come off quick. A cam swap is a lot more involved but to just R&R heads can be done in a day with simple hand...
Yeah... Low end instant TQ shove and short gearing vs the Corvette's loooong gearing and high revving NA definitely gives a different SOTP experience. Corvette manual gearing is ideal for the track but you need a place you can wind it out on the street to begin to appreciate it.
The C6 ZR1...
They worked pretty well for me as a dual purpose pad. I will say on a good stock size 200TW or better (I had RE71RS) they are at their reasonable limit but it really depends on the track. CMP is my home track and is notoriously hard on brakes. I ran through 2 sets of them and my original OEM...
