it would be another facepalm moment if it doesn't become an option...we are already getting a watered down FT1 so why kill off any remaining standout design cues?
ya well that is old news now... I don't have a problem with concepts being larger to be more striking but the issue is how they transplant such details onto a production car...normally designers will adjust all the proportions together but the FT1 was a facade because we ain't getting any...
eh I've always felt that weight is overrated for this class at least when we look at the first 3 gens of the Supra. The $50-80 K range is supposed to be either great handling + adequate power or great power + adequate handling so I would be cool with a little more weight to get those cool...
thus far toyota has had a good track record for great looking engine bays on their sports cars and the 86's engine bay is actually quite nice and even nicer with the current red powder coated intake manifold...bmw has indeed been the masters of engine covers for a while though..
pretty sure the BMW mirrors are here to stay, but that sketch wasn't predicting anything new, we already knew this... If BMW can't be bothered to use body mounted mirrors on any of their M cars, then I sincerely doubt they will bother to create some for the costing savings Supra project...
...a black square..? where did the ft1 have a "black square" on the hood? and while that sketch looks alright, nothing on that front end represents or even remotely resembles what we've seen on the mule..it doesn't even have a hump in the middle for the nose..if he is suggesting those elements...
...but looking at the other lights, the car seems to be braking with the taillights & 3rd brake light coming on yet no light comes from that area underneath so I think metzger is right here.
I have taken plenty of roadtrips with my 86 having 2 people in the back. as long as you're fit and shorter than 6'00 it is manageable especially if the people in the back sit pretzel style or if you just have one person you can have them sit sideways. Besides my aesthetic preference of 2+2s, I...
well right because Toyota has had a direct decision making on their sports cars but this is different...this the the bavarians taking their product and molding it to what they think is Toyota's taste. has anyone seen a single person from japan sit in the "supra" mules? very authentic stuff...
yes, we all know how big the FT1 is but Toyota then should have designed a concept around a 2 seater, not tease us with a gorgeous 2+2 only to just become a crammed bodykit on a roadster with a roof...when you look at the LC 500 from concept to production, the overall height and proportions...
..since the end of the MK4 Supra I would lean towards the tuning capability of BMW engines but if we include the Toyota era during and before the 2JZ-GTE then I would prefer Toyota tuning.
the viper is gorgeous but the FT1 proportions, let alone the BMW mule's proportions, aren't close. part of what gives the FT1 its beauty is the slightly shorter hood and longer body which was due to the 2+2 layout but since this is now a 2 seater that tries to cram the same styling cues it ends...
