That sounds like it could be part of the auto start-stop. I seem to remember feeling and hearing pedal click on cars that rely on the brake pedal to engage the start mechanism.
I can tell you where to die a slow death in gridlock traffic in and around DC... (hint- everywhere) Also plenty of residential roads at a heady sustained 30mph...
Seriously though, I’d be interested in hearing from NOVA owners - once my car arrives I need to make a concerted effort to drive it...
Yeah, his videos make me feel uneasy they’re so frenetic. Anyone know how he has so many expensive toys? Good for him, just wondering how a guy like that makes his living.
I just checked the manual and it doesn’t state that the 12v plugs will drain the battery. It states that they operate in the Standby and Drive Ready states. I have seen people claim that the 12v will drain the battery but like I said there isn’t a warning in the manual.
This leads me to believe...
If it’s like other BMW systems, you can tailor the temperature of each vent group. BMW believes in keeping the air aimed at the driver’s upper torso and head cooler to aid in alertness.
The manual is very sparse in describing the settings, but what I’ve underlined here suggest there may be a...
If they wanted to, they could pick a partner and install in their own dealers - like Jeep used to do with AEV and BMW does with DINAN. In both cases the warranties stay intact.
It’s interesting that this car is more like a PC than a car with regard to power. It has multiple modes and it doesn’t behave like other cars with a start/stop button.
As others have said in threads here, to make sure you get to idle mode (off):
-engage the parking brake -AFTER- switching the...
I’ve been reading the manual. Is it possible that the car has been left accidentally in standby state instead of idle state? Also, it appears that the 12v plug is always drawing power and can drain the battery if an accessory/device is left plugged in.
Yup. Sounds like the BMW system. Without a reset, the ECU still thinks the battery is weak and draws hard on it. I have seen old BMW forum posts for guys who used off the shelf batteries and they were sucked dry in about one year.
Even 15 years ago BMW had a very sophisticated system that categorized various onboard electronics and accessories into groups. Some could demand only so much and would get shut off, others could draw until the battery was drained. This was fairly well documented. Perhaps something got wired in...
There are certainly trade offs - aside from weighing the benefits of faster shifting and launches vs absolute control. I’ve heard/read stories of dealers blaming owner behavior for engine problems that turned out to be manufacturing defects. Specifically, behavior that you can’t do if the car is...
My dealer just informed me that the delivery timetable is moving up. They got a car today that wasn’t due for another 2 weeks and the expected eta for my car is moved up about 2 weeks. The car made it to Newark yesterday.
If you’re waiting, it might make sense to ping your dealer.
I wonder if the Z4 shade will fit? BMW shades are very nice.
Looks like maybe the Z4 windshield is taller? Hard to tell because the rake looks different between the two vehicles’ windshields.
