LC500: 470hp
LC500h: 354hp
the figures don't sound too bad until you realize the car weighs 4500lbs and costs ~$100k... why not buy an RC-F, which is 550lbs lighter, has nearly the same output, handles far better, and for $35k less lol?
granted, power/handling isn't what they were going for...
I was told in Dec that two cars will be shown (but they are essentially production cars vs an actual concept)... not sure if that means there really are only two models as we thought all along or if that's 2 of the newly rumored 4 performance trim levels. I also don't understand why they didn't...
no 6cyl variations with Toyota powertrain were made, although if Toyota was developing the car alone that would be likely IMO.
that said, the car did originally test with another BMW motor. I think it was the S55? In fact, the engineers seemed to really like that motor.
Wonder how cool it...
yeah, I have no idea how they're going to reconcile 4 performance trim levels, but I also doubt NA will be getting anything more than two anyways (we've discussed that part before).
sporadic doesn't mean non existent, but there was the DI seals thing, the cam gear seizing, the fuel pump, and I'm probably forgetting one or two more.
I'm not hating on the car, I'm just saying new cars have issues... as you said, I believe most of those things if not all have been corrected...
there is a frighteningly long list of shit that was wrong with the early FRS/BRZ, but yeah they ended up working nearly everything out after year 1, which is par for the course these days for newer models it seems.
that's important to note ^
I do think they could easily have a hybrid version eventually dependent on their goals and how long they plan to sell the car.
yeah, they absolutely are working on a Z4-M Spec car. I'm not sure if that will be what it ends up being called, but that's the car that Tada helped them with when they got butthurt about the Supra vs regular Z4 track performance disparity.
love that thing ^
some guy was commenting on that about it being such a waste of time and money when he could of went 1GZ, and I had to learn him on what a difference the GZ is in comparison. Sure, it's lighter, but it has awful head flow that cant be corrected, it has an aluminum block hence...
HKz is essentially going the direction I was going with my argument, which is to say for the given price point and for a performance car anything hybrid is a fairly ridiculous IMO. He did a good job of detailing the exact reasoning as well.
I dont necessarily discount the idea of a hybrid, aside from Tada preferring traditional propulsion systems, but I do discount anything over $80k price wise and also think it would be weird for the TRD/GRMN car.
I think we're going to see and hear the most we ever have here shortly :)
There are some new details around this car, mostly just confirmations on certain things that have been discussed on here previously, but I cant say much and expect to sign an NDA here within the coming few weeks. The...
just about everything in that article is ridiculous... $100k for a TRD Supra (and it's hybrid)? I dont think Toyota is that insane.
I can however see the GRMN/TRD car being 15-20k+ over the standard car, much like the C7 Corvette performance levels (base, GS, Z06).
