Precisely. No way am I doing 20 minute sessions in 100° F heat with 20 weight oil.
I seriously doubt Toyota put 20 weight oil in our cars with the intention we beat on it at the racetrack. I have to imagine They would think we are smart enough to do a bit of research and make changes as needed...
You're leaving out the part where, in the comments, they also mention that track conditions and weather had a lot to do with the manual transmissions time being so close.
When they posted the data log, the automatic was faster everywhere except for in braking zones in which both cars were dead...
I used to get SUPER fired up about track days with friends. They all quit. I'm doing it all solo. ??
True. I was on 305 SC3R tires and had to be super careful on corner exit, if I were up in the RPM. The Supra seems more planted to me.
I have a base model and haven't wished I had any of the premium features. I like the seats better. It's a bit lighter which I assume is better since I only use the car for track days.
My dealership didn't offer one. I've been searching for one since, can't seem to find anything to purchase after the fact.
**Edit: Read up on the terms. I bought a 10-year 100,000 mi warranty for another car I owned. I assumed it started when the factory warranty ran out. It did not. It's just...
I asked a few posts back and the answer is mostly "no". Feels better? Yes, of course. Flatter always feels quicker, but lap times sometimes tell a different story.
**Edit: unless you are doing AutoX. Giving up a bit of lateral grip in favor of quicker transitioning is 99% going to be the right...
Sell. Sit on money until interest rates come down. You will be way, way ahead of the game, then. I've been tempted to do the same, but my current rate is 2.9% (my last car was 1.9% so this is acceptable to me) and I can't think of anything else I'd buy right now.
I used to "settle" for lesser...
That sounds more like a driver issue than choice of car, though.
I think someone could become a faster driver by learning car behavior and lines at a slower pace, of course. Maybe if I'd even say most people. It worked for me (first time on track was in a 200hp FWD car).
I'm not sure I'd say...
I got me an extra set of the plastic, OEM fittings That originally come on the car. I bought a set of rubber pucks that fit them. I used self-tapping screws through the plastic "box", into the rubber pucks. Now I have a permanent solution to jack the car up without having a stack a bunch of crap...
I get the feel aspect. A flat car was feels better and more responsive.
My experience has been that sometimes a flatter car results in unless grip. Instead of letting the car be compliant and hunker down, I may find the car skipping across bumps or otherwise putting too much stress on the...
I can agree with this. I've done this season mostly stock. All I've changed: wheels, tires, brake pads, brake fluid, camber plates. I'm faster than most in my class and have come within tenths of seconds from two track records. I regularly have people coming up asking "What done to it?". They...
