I have an older V8 Vantage. My plan was to enjoy it for a year or two and then sell it for something else, repeat. I can't bring myself to get rid of it. The engine sounds amazing at high RPM. It's extremely sexy. It has pretty much all the luxury items at any new car has. It's a two seater...
Yes, track use, So posted in this subtopic.?
Is it common to use lb vs kg for these cars? I'll do some math. I saw somebody running 10k front and 16k rear. Seemed like a lot in the rear so just wondering.
I've searched through the site and haven't found a consensus on spring rates for our cars. Have we settled on what seems to work best? It seems most platforms have a sweet spot, or at least a general setting to start from before we start messing with the rest of the car.
Assuming it's been said, but race teams, drift cars, and a number of us have been using spacers for years. Extended bolts or studs, hubcentric spacers, and you are good to go.
I could look into it. I have a catted DP now that disappointed me. I'm sure I looked up the GESI part... Not sure why I decided against it. Maybe price....?
It's the Internet. People rarely go back and read through threads to catch up. I am guilty of being one of those people, from time to time ?
On another note, I think most of the disbelief of a catless downpipe not throwing a CEL comes directly from armytrix's website. They clearly state that...
I have an ethanol content tester that I used. I'd then use an online % calculator to figure out how much of my specific e85 I needed to add to reach E-38. I would shoot for exactly that number, that way if I was over or under one or two percent it wouldn't be the end of the world.
Had I stuck...
I can't stand seeing CELs. It makes me think of all the Hondas running around my town that are driving with CELs and held together with duct tape LOL. Also, I don't want to have something be wrong with the car and I not know until I think to re-check the codes. I put my OEM DP back on. Yeah...
Spacers for tire deflection? Those tires are a bit shorter than what the car normally runs. Your speedo/mileage will be off a bit. Most of us run 275/40. As long as the spacer provides enough distance to not rub on your front springs, you are good to go!
It should be, but I'm told our cars store mileage in more than one place. If true, the mileage on the ECU won't match the mileage on the car. I can't imagine they would fail me for that, but it might cause the smog tech to pause knowing them. All the smog text in my town are paranoid as f***.
I LOLed as soon as these showed up. ??
I'm going to go ahead and burn through these carbotechs before swapping. But then, yes, I will be hitting you up for more pads ??
I've driven a GTR. It's a lot of fun but is definitely "boy racer" in terms of refinement. I know.. not what it's built for. But, for a GT car, it's not quite the best option, IMO. For a track car, they are PHENOMENAL.... but so are operating costs.
Since we're on a Supra forum, I'll compare to...
Thanks to @razorlab , I'm half way to a solution. I'll be ordering rotors as soon as I find the best pricing on a set. Woohoo. A base model with the Premium brakes, none of the fluff, and the good seats? YAAAAS, please. :D
Yeah.. I'm not a fan of a "mini-cat" for that reason haha. I live in CA so will, eventually, clone an ECU so I can ditch the cat in between smog checks. I won't be modding the engine, but it will be worth it to keep the heat down during track days. I just have to hope I don't get hung up on...
