Not necessarily, but if you need to shift, it's okay to do so. MT people try to limit shifts because of time lost. Supras don't really have that problem. Especially if the added acceleration is needed.
When you take a car built for handling and try to make into a drag car, it's gonna be a bit of an uphill battle.
You almost need to take away all that makes the car handle well in order to go straight.
If only you could swap in a sold axle....
From what I'm seeing under these cars, you need to...
I also went from doing track days to trying out autox. Hmmm.... I'd say looking a turn or two ahead and setting up turns early and quickly is essential. Also knowing where to sacrifice speed is very helpful. Be patient on the tight stuff, as our cars like to get sideways.
Other than that, I...
+1. I use constant-torque worm drive clamps on all my turbo cars, despite being told I need t-bolt clamps everywhere. I haven't had a problem since making the switch.
Such a coincidence. I just had this conversation with my friend yesterday after cleaning my wheels. I had her drive around the...
Agreed that any of that have been serious enough to look into it do... but the new guys are just learning and need a basic understanding of terminology at the very least.
With the platform only being a few years old....... 'gonna continue to have lots of newbs for what will feel like a really...
two more weeks.
Thank you for posting an explanation for the peeps above. It's nice when someone takes the time to help/explain to others instead of posting cryptic, vague "you should know all this by now" replies. ?
These cars don't have the loss of time while shifting that manual trans cars do. Feel free to shift all you need to, you won't loose any time. Plus these cars die out up top, so the shift into the torque curve will probably help.
If you were easily going 100% through that section, then aero definitely helped. I do wish I had gotten that section right just once LOL. Man.. I coulda dropped at least half a second there LOL. Next year, though..... I'll be going for PBs and not needing to conform to class rules. Jackie and I...
I feel I *could* have, if I got it just right, but I didn't. I think a few more laps and I would have had it. The car had a 1:56 in it for sure. Possibly a 1:55...
I'm waiting to get home to download mine!
Congrats, dude!
I feel the same about my first time out. Everyone had me second guessing myself, telling me "you're spoiled since the Evo drove itself". I'm no stranger to RWD and loved how controllable this thing is with slip angle. Some of the times I didn't even lift, bro. ?
But then I had...
I FINALLY got the car on track in a serious way. The car is otherwise stock with camber plates (limited adjustment with stock struts), tires, and brake pads. Man, these things are quick. The underpowered HP rating had me even with GT350s. The handling had me giving fits to lightly-prepped...
Unpopular opinion: from what I've read on our cars, lowering springs make the cars handle worse than stock. The geometry doesn't seem to like it. I'd dig into that before spending your money. Braces don't seem to help either, so maybe look into that a bit more also...?
That's super cool. I...
I know it's not CF interior trim or wingy ding aero bits, but I took first place in class at round 4 of the Bimmer Challenge and 3rd in Vegas Cup, yesterday (Las Vegas Motor Speedway ORC) with a 1'57.8.
Now to see if I can make up points after missing the first three rounds.
The car...
