I surprisingly haven't had anyone be really annoying about the BMW thing yet. Most people have no clue that it is, or don't care. A couple people have asked me "why didn't you get a mk4"? I feel like that's too dumb of a question to answer.
Car gets 10x more positive comments than not. Also not...
After listening to the podcast, it led me down the rabbit hole of ECUTEK tuning and found this resource: https://ecutek.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SUPPORT/pages/170557464/B58+Tuning+Guide
If anyone's curious how the DME logic works on a b58, interesting read.
May as well add Perez to these standings, because Max stands alone due to his skill- not the car alone. I mean, you're talking about a dude who spends his only free time away from racing...doing sim racing ? dude is a freak of nature - just see how much Fernando respects him
Sure its a bit...
Catless only smells in the car if you're at a light for a while, in reverse, or wind blowing to the front of the car.
It's not like it's going to have your eyes watering in a few seconds. That being said, other cars around you won't love it ?
If that's the route you want to go - it definitely will make more power.
I haven't seen any of your logs, so I'm not sure what battle you're fighting with the JB4. It's usually an easy fix, but if money/warranty is no issue - Femto unlock is the better way to go anyway.
Don't get discouraged, downpipes don't mesh well with the JB4 right out of the box. you need to do custom tuning to get it right. Just upload your Map 4 log to datazap and post the link here. 2500rpm to redline in 3rd gear.
As for ambient temps changing, you would want to take some logs when...
You can upload your CSV log to datazap to my Map 6 thread:
https://www.supramkv.com/threads/seeking-more-info-on-jb4-map-6-tuning.16759/
Map 1: 3rd gear 2500-redline. 4th if traction limited.
I never drove a pre-2023 so I have nothing to compare too, but the car definitely does lock the LSD more than usual when taking uphill hairpins. Feels like its on rails, crazy... I wouldn't know if earlier models would do the same.
My dude, all I can say is look up AT vs MT prices on sites like Cars and Bids and Bring a Trailer lol.
Cool that your buddy has those options. I just don't think that's what the market is showing.
Anyone else think the Alonso to Red Bull rumors have any weight? Seems a little too off the mark. Daniel, Yuki, or even Lando strike me as more obvious choices.
I used to just make fun of these rumors but too many ended up true lol
First person I've heard say that, but I'm not terribly surprised.
JB4 is very fuel limited <4k rpm. Factory fuel tables are not generous enough and STFTs aren't enough to compensate for high boost targets, hence lower torque.
5k+ rpm - doesn't seem to be fuel limited, I can have the JB4 push...
More specifically, if you buy your JB4 used - factory reset it to the settings shown on this page: https://www.jb4tech.com/forum/model-specific-engine-tuning-modification-discussion/b58-b48/4984-jb4-b48-b58-firmware-settings-and-notes
and set it to Map 1 for logging.
Agreed - most of the "dangers" anyone as ever had with the JB4 is probably running Map 3 or other strong additive maps, while they have a downpipe or other mods that will cause overboosting without proper WGDC tuning + not having a boost safety set.
Set a boost safety of 23 psi and you will...
Agree just because he called the manual the "worse one" ?
Honestly with the rev match downshifting, I would be surprised if it was actually slower on track at all. So it really is just preference.
