Asked a friend and said it was more or less an article explaining the difference between the two company and their partnership

Edit: said it was rendered in CG

Thought it said cast iron or something

Just FYI, those are all photoshops, it's not a real photo of the engine bay/cover. It's a photo of a G30 540i with the Toyota logos photoshopped onto the cover. You can tell because of the lateral bracing and second "fin-like" cover on the side, which is direct from the 5 series.

I hope toyota doesn’t actually use that cover.. by just throwing their logo on it. That’ll be a slap in the face..

Thank you.

isn't that actually a standard B58 cover seen in more than one model? Google seems to think so, but I'm not knowledgeable on BMWs.

one example: https://www.bimmerfest.com/news/872462/b58-engine-340i-technical-details-and-improvements-from-n55/
Thank you.

Here's one thing I don't understand. If Toyota can reuse some parts from BMW, isn't this somewhat better for us? We know that Tada wants this car to be great, so by parts sharing, Toyota can save money there, and use the money elsewhere to improve design/engine/development/etc.? I know some of you don't want anything BMW on this car, but if they didn't do this, the car would cost an arm and a leg, most people would say it's too expensive and it would flop.

Instead they save costs with BMW, start from scratch and build a wicked mean machine. I don't know about you guys, but I for one don't mind seeing some BMW parts here and there if it means that the Supra will be born again, and even better than before. We've heard it's a track beast, and if a GRMN version can come from this version, I'm up for it. It was either BMW collab, or nothing at all......I'll take what I can get.

Hmm What AM I driving?
I mean as long as the car works and the engine is good. They can put a Civic cover on it and I wouldn't care.

Jokes aside I'm sure they'll be a toyota version of the cover and even if it's the reuse cover of the BMW it's likely just a cost saving thing. Or they could just leave it open like the 86 that little cover is a joke on those iirc

I wouldn't expect to see the high quality coil pack covers of the past on the new Supra. I think almost all manufacturers are using those ugly cheap looking black covers now. Lexus F cars may be the exception with the painted covers, but the fancy 2JZ-GTE style covers are surely no more.

On another note the interior looks pretty unique - doesn't look standard to me.

yeah, they've done their best to at least make the car unique (albeit with the parts bin here and there), so I would be shocked to see a standard bmw cover, let alone on the new iron I6.
