Without a manual, the auto will need to be visceral. The slushboxes in the euro muscle C63 and M3 etc are good, but not for a sports car. Suits the C63 well.... but if I imagine that trans in my JZA80.... ewww

The Auto seems to be like the one Mercedes is using nowadays

its a Z4 with a different front bumper and rear lamps?

Man...

If it comes with 5x120 wheel studs will be another strike for me...

Dammit. It better be all wordly in its driving and performance.

Now, Im interested if they'll bring back the 86 with a turbo 4 and Manual!

Geeez so much butthurt in this thread.

This will be my DD and I was never going to purchase a manual. Driving in DFW traffic with a manual is a workout.

Loving this car so far unlike many of you!

Looks: Stunning
Power: Hopefully at least 380hp

Currently in an RC 350. This should be at least keep me current with new tech and or be an upgrade.

Doesn't make sense, how come gt86/brz, a sports car that is more daily drivable is offered in manual transmission, while a TWO- seater supra successor that is supposedly much more of a sports car than the gt86/brz gets only automatic?

People are not going to buy a 2 seater car to daily drive it most of the time. I know I won't, they need to distinguish the difference between the buyers that want a Z4 (a 2 seater roadster that uses it to take out on a beach) and a supra buyer (an enthusiast import tuning sports car)

Honestly, at this point, I have the impression that toyota has very little decision making impact on this "joint" project for this car. Considering the engine is BMW, being tested by BMW, being manufactured by BMW, this is essentially a BMW car while toyota is like a car buyer with an online configurator that just gets the choices to change what BMW provides them. it's like BMW saying to toyota, "hey this is what you will get and can have for your version of the sports car, you can change things around but since we are making it don't change it TOO much"

I bet the transmission choice is mostly because BMW z4 only sells well when it is automatic, thus it wouldn't make sense for it to be offered in one platform and not the other. especially if they are sharing the cost of R&D.

The suspension setup will likely differ substantially between the two, with the Z4 being a softer GT and the Supra a true sports car. Plus the interiors are going to be completely different.

A few days ago I was thinking of starting a poll to see if we needed more polls here - then decided against it.
I don't mind the polls, but in my opinion people need to do a search before making a new thread. With that said, I bet there will be even more new "manual transmission threads" in the upcoming weeks lol. :p

Get me their email address. The amount of MT FRS, BRZ, and GT86 in the market should make for a strong business case. I don’t want to hear the different demographics argument because I recall seeing a range of generations rocking the FRS and BRZ. A MT Supra is as important to its heritage as reliability is to Toyota.

What a travesty.
