1) If the car is a fast one.. yeah.. auto only makes sense.
2) these types of reports were there about the GT350 as well.

Same question, why will the Supra be slow? Cayman does 0-60 in 3.6s with 310lbs-ft, the Supra will have more torque with only a bit more weight..and it'll kill any mustang or camaro in the corners.

Just to interject here... the GT350/R and ZR1/1LE Camaros really are a different breed of Mustang and Camaro. Not sure that "any" is the appropriate quantifier, although I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

If you are talking 60k price point then it’s appropriate to compare the new Zupra to the GT350 and the ZL1. Both of those are offered with a proper transmission and are quicker than whatever BMW has to offer under the Toyota nameplate.

This upcoming thing will be a 3300lb car with 350-375hp tops. That’s not exactly a fast car..

It is not only about weight..they said the biggest thing is the differetential.The car will also have a 8speed trans so lots of room to play with differential rates.Change that rate and a car can have massive difference in acceleration.Ok you lose top speed but who cares anyway..
